Weeee…. we’ve hit the 2 year mark. And decided to just celebrate it  with the theme “Do As You Like”. So what exactly me and Deon did. Hemmm… we just follow the flow and do things that cross our mind.

And so, after we woke up.. the first thing that pops up at Deon’s head is “Fried Rice”. Yup, and particularly the one in Chatterbox. So Chatterbox…. here we go!

Funnily, my dear didn’t order fried rice as what he initially thought of. Instead he ordered Set Lunch A which consist of Cheese Bake Rice with Fish in some spicy sauce, Yin Yong HK Style (cold) and a bowl of soup of the day (RM12.90). As for me, I ordered the HK Fried Rice with Beef (RM10.80) and a HK Ice Coffee (RM3.80).

To date, I think they serve the best Cheese Bake Rice. Yup, much better than Wong Kok Char Chan Teng and Kim Gary. Yum yum! And I love all their fried rice.

We then walk around a bit and decided to head down town to KLCC. Yup! I’ve been DYING to go Kinokuniya, while my dear wants to search for his Victorinox wallet!

Ah, and each time I go Kinokuniya… I sure walk out a broke person. I can’t believe how that have such wide range with such interesting books, in comparison with other bookstore here.

After shopping, we went queue up to get tickets for The Time Traveler’s Wife, which caught my attention back then when I saw the trailers. Since we have extra time before the movie starts, we had our tea break in Chili’s.

We both share a basket full of Chips and Queso (RM14.95). I ordered a Pineapple Juice (RM8.95) too. Yup, that’s my favourite drink each time I go to Chili’s. Deon just  love the Queso. Of course we both think Oscar (Deon’s little cute doggy) would love it too since he loves cheese. We are still figuring what ingrediants they put in to make such yummy queso!

Then it’s movie time! Yeay!!! I’ve been wanting to watch this movie ever since I saw the trailer. Not to mention, with Eric Bana in the movie!

Wow, it was such a deep and beautiful story. I mean, to begin with… I think the person who wrote this book is like… I don’t know how to put in words. I guess it’s really amazing that someone actually think of something this interesting. I mean, what the time traveler have to go through in his life.. not knowing where he would end up at. And well, not to mention the stress and loneliness the wife have to go through. I love this. I think it’s amazing!

After movies, we then drop by at the Secret Recipe near my house to have dinner!

I ordered the Tom Yum Noodles (RM13.00) while my dear ordered his old time favourite, Grill Black Pepper Chicken (RM13.50) and we both shared the Appletiser (RM7.80) and the Grapetiser (RM7.80) and followed by a slice of Pecan Butterscotch Cake (RM6.50).

It’s been a while since I had Tom Yum in Secret Recipe, but I still love how generous they are with the mushrooms! I think it would be better if they could add in some Straw Mushroom!

While my dear enjoy his Griller Black Pepper Chicken, I can’t stop eating the cake despite how I keep saying “I’m full” cause I just love butterscotch! Awwww…. buttery taste with crunchy Pecan Nuts! This is such a great closure to the perfect day!

I guess I am easily influenced by TV programmes. I love watching taiwan’s travel and food show. So, I would think taiwan have many good food. Which automatically attracts me to this shop called Little Taiwan in 1 Utama.

Of course I would have to credit the scrolling lightbox as well *wink*

In my humble opinion, a good chinese restaurant is one that serves superb dumplings. Yes, so we ordered the most common… Pan Fried Dumpling (RM8.90) and to my disappointment… it taste like frozen food. It doesn’t have meat taste to it and tasted blend.

My dear ordered the Salted Chicken Set Lunch (RM1 3.90) inclusive of Bubble Red Tea. Additional Pearl costs RM1.00. The physical look of the dish is nice and makes our tummy goes goo goo gaa gaa…. but taste wise, it’s really lacking of standards. The salted chicken is not crispy and “not salted”. I seriously didn’t enjoy this dish at all as I have seriously tasted better salted chicken.

I’ve ordered the Taiwanese Beef Meat Ball Set Lunch (RM15.90) inclusive of Bubble Red Tea as well. This dish comes with 2 huge beef meat ball. I seriously don’t know how to explain this… it’s nice and tender… cook to perfection. However, it has this strong “beef taste” which I would think make a lot of other people to not like it.

We add-on the Chicken Meat Ball Soup which cost us only RM2.00 since we ordered the set lunch. I personally think it’s overly priced cause the chicken meat ball tasted like the Ayamas frozen chicken meat ball served in an oily soup.

To be honest, I though the whole lunch was a huge disappointment to me. Probably cause I expected a lot from it’s name, probably they should invest more in taste testing.

Weeee… I am back to backdated again. Yup, my boyfriend’s birthday was like… roughly a month ago and I actually planned a birthday dinner bash at the actual day but since his parents are leaving to some place else, I postponed my plans a day later. So, we went dinner with my boyfriend’s family at Tokyo G to celebrate.

From what I know, this place was previously owned by Shushi Groove… which I didn’t have the luxury to try before they change name. I’ve always like the renovation cause it looks… er “COOL” from the outside and I can’t help to notice the walls and how green the area is.

So wee…. I finally get try out Tokyo G. I actually have quite high expectation from the outlook of the shop and of course their “modern twist” to conventional food.

Our dinner starts of with the Chawamushi, which I personally think has strong egg taste however, it seems to be a little overcooked and seriously doesn’t tasteless… in terms of, it’s neither salty or sweet. 

My boyfriend’s brother ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry (RM14.90) which in my opinion tasted pretty standard. It is not exactly the yummiest every Chicken Katsu Curry… but great enough to spark my fire. My boyfriend ordered the Ebi Don Buri (RM15.90). Yup, he is always a ebi tempura lover and most of the time… this is what he ordered. I quite like this dish. It would be like perfect if the egg and sauce is salty instead of sweet. I just love how they put those crunchy bits from the tempura in the rice. It seriously added texture in this dish.

 I ordered the Mayonnaise Dream Roll (RM10.90) to share. I love it. I love how they cleverly cook this. It’s raw salmon in the center wrapped with seaweed and rice at the bottom, topped with sauce… which I would think consist of tousand island, mayonnaise and cheese in it and ebiko on the top. Yummy… saliva dripping!

However, the Deep Fried Gyoza was quite a disappointment to me. The dough seems to be a little thick. And I don’t know… somewhere, somehow the taste and texture of the entire gyoza just didn’t mix along well in the mouth.

If anyone is looking for THICK slices of sashimi, I guess Tokyo G is the place to go. But becareful of what you wish for… cause thick slices of sashimi can be really gross to swallow. Yup, this is the case when we order the Sashimi Combo (RM29.90). Each slice is really thick. So thick that I myself felt gross chewing… especially the tuna slices. The thickness of the tuna slices was like around 1.3cm each. Grrrr.. scary!

The Ziggy Roll (RM12.90) is one of the dish that I didn’t try out as I was busy chewing the sashimi and no one else except deon’s mum eats sashimi

The Godzilla Roll (RM15.90) is lovely as well. Yup, this long roll filled with ebi tempura in the center wrapped with rice, salmon slices and sweet mango! I love how the mango and thousand island compliments the dish.

Deon’s dad loves teriyaki chicken… however, this “modern twist” restaurant does not serve big chunky teriyaki chicken. The only thing that has teriyaki chicken in it was the Teriyaki Chicken Roll (RM8.90). I personally think the chili flakes on the top over power the entire dish.. to the extend that I could hardly taste any chicken taste.

I would say the experience and ambience is great… except the fact that we can’t lean back and apparently, facing the fancy lighted wall can really cause headache and discomfort while eating. I think the staffs were friendly and nice… but the service is seriously slow.

Carl’s Jr… mmm, I probably went there somewhere last year… but yeah.. this post is very much inspired by the “She’ll tell you size doesn’t matter. She’s lying” card that my colleague conveniently used as a barrier between our tables and yup as I go through my search list, I noticed I forgot to add this in.

Where to start, hemm… everyone told me the burgers are like giaganticly huge. Many told me it was expensive… some say it was reasonably priced.

If you ask me, to be honest… I think the burgers were only huge. Not as huge as I would imagine it to be (not to mention as I am typing, the burgers probably shrank in size). Expensive… hemmm… I would have to agree that it’s kinda expensive for a fast food chain restaurant.

Okay… in details, I ordered the Double Western Combo which includes a Double Western Burger + Medium French Fries + Medium Coke (RM23.00) while my dear ordered the Chili Burger (RM14.00). For the drinks… weeee… we could refill it as many times as we want, so we actually shared… since I don’t really drink much water and as for the fries, seriously nothing much to hype about.

The Double Western Burger has 2 beef patties in it.. with loads of cheese and bacon. The patties were juicy and ah… not to mention the crispy bacon to top. I just love bacons Too bad it’s a non-halal shop… or else I think it would be better if it’s a pork bacon.

As for the Chili Burger,  beef patty.. with loads of special Carl’s Jr. chili sauce and cheese. Yummie…. but I still prefer the Double Western compare to the Chili Burger.

But if you really ask me… seriously, the size doesn’t really matter, but the price does matter. I think the price is expensive. I mean, this tasted not much difference from Burger King.. but it’s almost double the price of it.

So yup, to date… I’ve yet to re-visit Carl’s Jr. cause “If I tell you the price doesn’t matter. I’m lying.”

I must say, it is pretty weird for a person like me who loves Japanese food but doesn’t quite fancy Japanese noodles… for instances ramen or udon or soba. So, Ajisen Ramen is really not my choice of food. But well, since my sister wanted to go… and yeah, why not bring my mum and try some new stuff as well… so yes… here I am in a ramen shop… which to my surprise… sell many other stuffs besides ramen.

Hehe… I ordered most of the non-ramen stuff such as Pan Fried Gyoza (RM7.80) which turn out to be damn good. Well at least in my humble opinion has a crunchy skin yet the meat inside is tender and moist. I also ordered the Pork Cheese Cutlet (RM11.80). This was quite a disappointment dish. Not only does it look way different from what it is being pictured… it was like super dry and I can hardly taste the cheese… probably due to the thick and dry batter. As for the Tuna Sakura (RM5.80)… the tuna is probably one of the thinnest slice I’ve ever came across… and again… fish tasted not moist enough. Probably not fresh enough.

My sister ordered the Renkon (RM4.80) which practically is thin slices of lotus root being fried till golden brown. I must say this is a simple yet delicious dish to start of with. Ooo… I love fried stuff!! She also ordered the Sakae Sakura (RM8.80). Mmm… according to my sister… this is one of the best dish here. To me… it tasted really good cause it has strong sesame oil taste. But I don’t think many can take the strong taste of it.

As for my mum… haha… she ordered the Hot Plate Seafood Ramen (RM13.80). If you ask me… it doesn’t taste much difference from the yellow mee… put on a hot plate… add some boiled seafood topped with bean paste sauce. I mean… seriously… it doesn’t have any seafood taste in the sauce. Personally… ramen still doesn’t makes me go wow!

My sister and mum then decides to order some dessert. Yup.. mum loves ice kacang… so we ordered something similar to suit her taste. We ordered Kakigori Anmitsu (RM8..80) and Macha Sundae Anmitsu (RM11.80) to share. Well.. nothing much could go wrong with something that looks and taste like ice kacang. For the Macha Sundae, yummie… but, peach and red bean… hemmm funny combo~

Yoshinoya was franchised in to Malaysia quite some time ago. I guess it would have been at least 7-8 years by now. I remember the how long the queue used to be. Then again, I also used to remember the long queue in Big Apple and J&Co last year. Which of course… now.. they all ended up nice and quiet.

Yes… I think, most of the time while dining in Yoshinoya with Deon, it’s just the both of us in the restaurant. But well, who cares if they lost their charm… and everyone moved on to more new food. I still think they serve great Beef Bowl. I’ll always order their Beef Bowl Value Meal (RM8.90), which comes with a soft drink/miso soup. And the best part is, I always leave as a happy and satisfied customer. The beef is so thin and soft… and the amount of fat is just right. Awwww… it just melts in each bite.

My dear, doesn’t really like the “fats” fact so the Spicy Chicken and Salmon Combo Value Meal (RM13.90) is his pick every single time we are at Yoshinoya. I would think their salmon is bad… and you know it’s been frozen for ages. But the Spicy Chicken is cool. It sorta reminds me of KFC Hot and Spicy… but lack of tenderness. A little tender would do this dish a whole lot better.

But you know what, sometimes me and my undecisive decision, and I would ended up ordering Spicy Chicken and Beef Combo Value (RM13.90). Hehe… which in my opinion… is the best of both world. I get both dishes I like.

In case you wonder why I don’t order the dishes with vege, I seriously think they sux at cooking vege. Seriously, I’ve never eaten any… and I seriously mean ANY vege dish as bad as what’s being served in here. Yucks!

I was watching Hell’s Kitchen yesterday and I suddenly wonder… when will I be able to dine in a fine dining restaurant like that? Yup, one meal would probably take up my entire salary… er… probably 2 months.

Sadly, there aren’t any real guidelines on what fine dining is. I do have my own guidelines of what fine dining is all about, and often I would laugh at many fine dining restaurant wannabes who claim that they serve fine dining just because they have classy ambience. Well, maybe I set too high of an expectation on “fine dining”.

In my opinion… yes… purely and entirely my opinion, a restaurant that qualify as a fine dining restaurant must have all of the below quality:

1. Reservation only
Yes… you are right. If you are that good, that great and that expensive… then why not. To me… it must be by reservation ONLY. No fuss, no waiting. And you know you will have a great personal time, without having the feeling of someone trying to rush you to finish up and leave.

2.Spacious and limited seatings
Right… of course it has to be spacious and thus, it gotta have limited seating. Ideally, you can hardly see any other human except for your partner or friends. Most importantly… they’ve gotta have white table cloth and napkins, perfectly ironed as well. And I mean napkins… not serviettes.

3. Valet parking
Hahaha… definately must have. Come on… good food and nice cars come hand in hand. With all the wine pairing… it’s always better to have some assistance.

4. Top notch service
Yes, it’s gotta be the best of the best service ever. And yes, the servers must be in their SUPER CLEAN uniforms, perfectly ironed and definately no stains. Not to mention,they gotta be highly trained… well at least no fingerprints on the plate. Knowledgeable and able to come out with an inteligent topic in regards to the food being served. And of course, no lesser than 2 servers to directly served the table.

5. 5 course meal ,wine paring and 2 hours of my lifetime experience
Yes… for me… it’s gotta be at least a 5 course meal with wine paring. Good food… wine… both just gotta work hand in hand. The menu is pretty much set. I don’t really have to think what to choose from and definately no combo meals and stuff. Best of all… no rush… everything is just slow and easy. Eat… chit chat… drink… chit chat… and life goes on~

6. State-of-the-art food and talented chef
All the food served gotta look like a masterpiece artwork. Each unique and different. You know you would spend at least 5 minutes of your time admiring the beauty and work. Not only must it look good… it must taste even better. And of course, we must definately thank the talented and professional chef. So yes, I do expect the chef to introduce himself after meal and ask me how’s food.

7. Top class Silverware and Glassware
Woohooo… yes… no stainless steel please. Only Silverware. It’s gotta be shiny and polished. Wine glasses made from crystals… and yes… matching and specially designed cups and plates. Ah… just so posh and classy.

8.Classy ambiance
Chandeliar, dim lights… that’s a must. Better still with some mozart music.

9. Priceless
Wee… as mentioned, I would have to at least spend my 1 month worth of salary in a meal. So yes… every attention to details count.

So, how many restaurant in KL actually falls under this few catergory. Do let me know if you know any fine dining restaurant. As I think I will have to save like 3 years to eat 1 meal. Now… is it all worth it?

Weee… Valentine’s Day, some people think it’s over rated. Yes, I think it is over rated. I mean… I like the fact that someone who created it gives everyone a chance to couples to celebrate and all… you know.. treat your other half a little better than usual. I know it is not like you can’t do it every other day… and phrases like… if you love someone you can show it every other day. But well… yeah, I hate the fact that it is over rated in the sense that… eating out is particularly expensive (if you are thinking of steak and wine). Not to mention flowers are super duper expensive.  So yes… wee…. me and my dear’s first valentine together was the proper… flower and dining thing. Only we ate thai. Hehe.. come to think of it… most of our special occassions, we celebrate at some thai restaurants :). Can’t help it, thai food is great!

This year, hehe… my baby cook dinner for me. Awwww… it is really sweet of him, considering he is not the cooking type. Hehe… it’s just a simple Spaghetti Cabonara with Campbell Chicken Soup and Sparkling Juice… but it is good enough to make me happy.

Hehe… this year… I got this super duper big pressie. Guess what~ TOYS!!!! My favourite~ Hehehe… and I just couldn’t believe it. My dear got me this Grab-It Machine that I drool and dream of having for the longest time. Hahaha… I mean… yeay, now I can practice grabbing toys at home.

How sweet of my dear to even include in the cute little phone dangglers as toys for me to grab. I think, the next time I shall put in sweets and candies

You know, throughout my life… many people have come up to me and say, you have gain weight. You should go on a diet. Or… you should stop eating so much. Or… Still eat so much meh?

You know what, I like to eat… and food makes me HAPPY :). Yup, it’s true. I felt happy eating food that I like. Well… even when I am not happy… eating will automatically makes me happy. Yeah… for instance…. the sinful chocolates or heavenly brownies topped with ice cream. Gulp~

The chinese always says… all problem can be solved on the dining table. Hehe… yup, and food is always a good way to get people together. Have fun, chit chat over food. And yes, it is definately stressless to hang out with people who eats… errr… i mean enjoys food.

Then again, the best part of all is seeing all those happy faces on people who enjoys eating. Mmmm… so yup, stop asking me to not eat or diet or whatsoever. Let’s eat… yum yum yum and be happy!

Mmm… Restaurant 3JC, this little restaurant hiding at the corner between the old wing and new wing of One Utama… caught my attention one day cause their name in many ways connects me with CJ7 (the most recent Stephen Chow movie). And yup… no cute little boy playing with it’s alien toy… just noodles… and loads of it.

Hemm… okay… me, deon and his family went and try out this place. We ordered a few different types of noodles and concluded their noodles are actually quite similar. Deon’s mum ordered 3JC in Dark Soya Sauce Handmade Noodles (RM7.90). I had the 3JC in Dark Soya Sauce Kuey Teow Noodles (RM7.20). The noodles comes with minced pork with spring onions and sausages and wooo… a row of 6 pork balls in soup. I personally think the noodles were just okay… but I do credit the amount of meat in each bowl of noodles. It’s definately worth every single cent.

As for Deon and his brother, they both had the 3JC in Curry Soup Handmade Noodles (RM9.50). My dear enjoyed the curry soup, however… there are just way too much stuff that he doesn’t eat… such as the tau fu pok and the sausages… hence he is left with only the pork balls. Hehe… so yup, in return… I ate the curry soup noodles while he ate the dry kuey teow noodles.

As for drinks, we had Cold Herbal Tea (RM2.20), Hot Coffee (RM2.30), Cold Coffee (RM2.80) and Cold Green Tea (RM2.00). Quite standard pricing for most food outlet in shopping malls.
