Food makes me HAPPY :) |
 |

You know, throughout my life… many people have come up to me and say, you have gain weight. You should go on a diet. Or… you should stop eating so much. Or… Still eat so much meh?
You know what, I like to eat… and food makes me HAPPY :). Yup, it’s true. I felt happy eating food that I like. Well… even when I am not happy… eating will automatically makes me happy. Yeah… for instance…. the sinful chocolates or heavenly brownies topped with ice cream. Gulp~

The chinese always says… all problem can be solved on the dining table. Hehe… yup, and food is always a good way to get people together. Have fun, chit chat over food. And yes, it is definately stressless to hang out with people who eats… errr… i mean enjoys food.

Then again, the best part of all is seeing all those happy faces on people who enjoys eating. Mmmm… so yup, stop asking me to not eat or diet or whatsoever. Let’s eat… yum yum yum and be happy!

Let’s visit Ah Wong! |
 |

It was one of those Friday’s that we all decided that we should relax and have a nice lunch. hence we drove to 1 Utama to have a long and relaxing lunch. Thinking of what to eat is really a hassle. Seriously, we complain when there isn’t anything to eat. Then, we complain when there are too many options. Of course Hong Kong Restaurant is always our last resort, and so… we landed at Wong Kok Char Chan Teng.
I ordered the Bacon Roll (RM9.20) and a cup of Cold Yin Yeong (RM2.90). The bacon roll doesn’t look exactly as yummy as potrait in the menu. Yeah, I know… I know, for illustration purposes only. As for the taste… hemmm… it wasn’t that great. I think it’s more of the fish paste and I can’t really taste the bacon taste.
Maggie ordered the Imperial Soup Rice with Mushroom and Dried Oyster (RM9.30) and White Fungus and Guai Lin Gou (RM5.50). Looks kinda interesting. Something like porridge or more like rice with soup overload! Think I’m gonna give that a try someday.
Deon ordered Nissin Noodles with Luncheon Meat (RM6.30) and Cold Coconut Tea (RM4.20). Hehe… he loves Nissin Noodles. Yeah, most of the time when we go to any Hong Kong restaurant, he will order Nissin Noodles :). As for the Cold Coconut Tea, hemmm…. it tasted a little strange for my taste buds. But one can’t really taste the Coconut taste. Hahaha… I guess that’s what I mean by strange.
As for Ramesh, he just ordered French Toast (RM4.20) and Bubble Cold Milk Tea (RM4.80). I personally think the Kim Gary’s French Toast taste better than the one served here. Yeah, this one tasted rather dry.

Farewell my dear friend… |
 |
It’s really a sad start for the 2008 year. Last Wednesday… on the Thaipusam holiday, my boss.. Edwin Lee passed away :(.
Sigh… it really is a great lost. He is more than a boss to me. My yum char kaki… a friend to joke around with… and I must say, I really miss those times when he kept telling us his diving experience over lunch. The office just isn’t the same without his funny and silly jokes… his laughter.
Office felt just so different. Something seems missing from my MSN list. Seems like there won’t be any response even how I try to fight poke over facebook.
I’ll really miss you Edwin. Rest in peace.

Happy Birthday, BOSS! |
 |
Weee… this pile of pictures were hidden somewhere in my pc. While cleaning up and organizing my files, I manage to appear and it was one of those cute moments.
Yeah, I couldn’t help but to remember how busy we were that day… but still could make our way to karaoke. Haha… yuppie. Boss birthday ma!

It was really fun… and I must say, I am completely wow-ed by how most of my colleagues are good singers. Can you imagine… we could finish singing a full version of Eminem - My Name Is song. I must say, it is really a good song to de-stress yourself.
Lots of Justin’s song… loads of 80’s song. Yeah, can’t help it… we all aren’t that young anymore you see
Anyway… HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDO!!!

Steamboat at June’s House |
 |

A few weeks ago, Jon suddenly text me and invited me and the gang over to June’s place for steamboat. Slurp… slurp… I love steamboat!!!
I mean… what is better than steamboat. Everything and anything in one big pot. Er… then come to think of it, I prefer BBQ more. So yes… it’s been sometime since I saw the both of them. I think the last time I met them was on their registration day.
Yeah… when I reach, nobody was there. I wanted to offer my help, but it seems everything is ready. All I need to do is just quietly sit down and finish the food. While waiting… Jon showed me their registration day pictures. Me and the rest of the gang did help out. We helped Jon and June took some pre-registration day photos.
I must say… some of them looks really really good. How come I ain’t showing it? Er… coz Jon hasn’t pass me the pics
Well… anyway back to the steamboat. It was totally awesome. One of June’s friend just got back from Cameron Highlands. She brought along loads of fresh and juicy mushrooms… not forgetting fresh vegetables and corn!!!!
As a mushroom lover, I would say I had overload of mushroom and I really am a happy person. Loads of them didn’t join us for dinner. Instead they came over later during the night for a game or two and some chit chat.
I think we should do more of this eating thing! Don’t we?

Happy Birthday Os!! |
 |
Haha… I guess Oswald is the lucky one after all. This is the first time I celebrated my colleague’s birthday since I join my new office. So yeah, he is the youngest member. Ah… our little boy have finally grown older.

So yes, the member of the creative department decided to go for some “makan” celebration. Yeah, good food… that is something that bonds everyone of us together. We decided to go to Umai-ya Restaurant which happens to be located very near to our office. Yeap… a great Japanese restaurant with nice ambience (although I find the chandeliar light in the middle a little odd compare to the rest of the deco).
But the best part… it’s like only 2 minutes walk from the office. So yes, I am determined to try all their dishes. Every single one of them… hemmm.. I guess by now I would have cover 30% of what they have to offer.

Our group totally love sashimi. I mean…it’s really a simple dish. All you need to do is serve fresh fish and nothing could go wrong. Er… okay, I think wasabi plays an important part too. So we ordered this Sake and Hamachi Sashimi to warm things up. Totally thumbs up! The fish is fresh, it’s nicely sliced. Not to mention the food presentation is awesome!

After the first round, we totally got addicted to fresh fish and decided that we want more! Yes, more… more and more. This time around, it’s all about salmon. We all have one thing in common… we all love salmon! We ordered more Sake Sashimi and Sake Maki to fulfill our salmon cravings. Oh yeah… the salmon seems to just melt in my mouth~ HEAVENLY!

Yummie… we even had Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab. I must say, it’s really a huge crab.. deep fried till golden brown. Oh, it’s so crispy. See… my cravings for crabs hasn’t exactly been cured~

Tempura… tempura!! In my point of view, I benchmark a Japanese Restaurant by their tempura. Well… a tempura seems like an easy dish to prepare… but I would say, many shops failed to impress. The mixture of the batter is simply important to get the crunch yet light feel. Most importantly… it shouldn’t be very oily. I must say, the Ebi Tempura is cool! It’s really crunchy while maintaining the freshness and the juiciness of the prawn. Oooo… I particularly love this dish!

We ordered this Unagi Tamago to share around. As someone who loves Unagi to the max, I somehow didn’t exactly enjoy this dish. It’s my first attempt to try this… but I somehow felt the Unagi taste was drowned in this dish. I could hardly taste the Unagi taste. Hemm.. I think I should try this dish from other restaurant to tell if it’s me or the dish.

We also ordered the Teppan Seafood. The teppan seafood have prawns, salmon fish slices and octopus served on a hot plate. The dish is topped with some thousand island like sauce mixed with some chili flake sauce. Like I say before, the seafood is lovely… but I find the sauce a little too strong and it seems to over the seafood taste. Not to mention… I really felt it didn’t go along well with the seafood. I can’t tell why exactly… it just felt like it doesn’t compliment.

I have no idea what’s the name of this dish. When the waitress came in and took our order, she asked if we would like to try their chef’s new creation sushi. She listed a few… but this particular one with mango seems to sound interesting. Fruits… sushi… okay.. now that interest us and we decided to go for that. The presentation of the food is simply beautiful and colourful. They actually use thin mango flesh to wrap around the sushi topped with some kind of “ikan bilis”. In the middle… one can find overload of wasabi flavoured ebiko and if I’m not mistaken… it’s some soft shell crab.. Lovely. I don’t normally like sweet and salty food mixed together. But this one just tasted so good. Everything just gets along so well together. Stunning yet taste-blowing dish.

White Dinner |
 |
I pass by this particular restaurant every single day. I couldn’t really help it since it’s on my way to work. I find it really have this modern and sleek feel. Simple yet beautiful setting. So yes, finally I had the chance to sit down and dine at this restaurant, Bianco.

Yeay… did I not mention, my colleague.. Ramesh is buying us dinner?
Well, what can I say… Ramesh is just one lucky guy eh. Italian dinner with 2 cute female colleagues… hahaha.

Bianco is really a quiet place. I personally quite like the spacious outdoor environment thingy. Well, what can I say… a good cup of Iced Latte does help.

Maggie ordered some Mushroom Pizza. Most of the pizza served here comes in thin crust. I had a slice but it is really yummy. Loads of mushroom… cheeseeeeeeeee e e… ooo la la~

Ravioli Bianco is one of Bianco’s signature dish. I always loved Ravioli as I felt it is Italian version of “wanton”. When I saw the description on the menu stated “stuffed with minced chicken and mushroom”… yes mushroom and best of all.. topped with MORE MUSHROOM… I know I just couldn’t resist the temptations.
Best of all… what I like most is, unlike many places… the ravioli is served warm and fresh. Mmm… I want more mushroom~

Ramesh ordered Fettucine Cabonara. Creamy dish with loads of bacon and baby asparagus. I never know baby asparagus complimented the dish so well. It’s a little crunchy and gives an extra texture next to the crispy bacon. I think everything blends in just so well. Really~

Too bad Oswald had to go for some BBQ party. Sorry Os, you don’t know what you miss out~
Then again… this place is located way too near to my office… we can just go there any other time.

Ul-isthmus Dinner |
 |

The August babies were born and the celebration has to go on. This time around, Brian was incharge with the planning and invitation. He is well known for being one of the best host. Most of the research done on where to eat… and better still… even list down where you should park and it’s hourly rates.

Ah… it’s really wonderful when you could just get around with friends… eat and dine… chit chat once in a while. Yup, this time around… Shirley and Jerry is our main casts
Most of us root for Isthmus from the list given. So yes… here it is. Isthmus is really beautiful~ At least I think they really put some thought in to their interior deco.

It has been said that they serve good food, but well… I guess one will really have to try it out to know what is best.

We ordered the famous Lotus Blue Dumpling (RM15) to share. Well… I must say they really do look beautiful. So beautiful I barely had the heart to eat it. I think it’s really a piece of art that speaks by itself. Not to mention it being tasty.

Everyone then ordered something different to share around. Me and Shirley ordered the Honey Lamb Cutlets (RM45) which was cooked to perfection. Yes… the taste is perfect…. the mustard and the sauce… Oooo… la la~ I am drooling while typing this now.

Caryn ordered the Tempura Tiger Prawns which comes with rice. I must say… the prawns are huge!!! I think it’s really worth every single cent paid for the food.

Brian ordered their famous Dim Kum Duck (RM38)… which I would say is their house specialty. Although I never get to taste it, I could smell it from far. I must say…. the aroma is enough to make you go crazy for duck.

Gigi on the other hand ordered the Poussin Ayam Sioh (RM22). Hem… I personally think it sounded a little too weird. Okay, probably a little too local. But I must say, it’s presentation prove me wrong.

The birthday boy (Jerry) ordered a big fat juicy steak~ Must I say… I really wanted to steal his dish… since it looks really yummie and… er… yummy?
Okay… I must really say the food taste great but it was served in a slow manner. Yes, I guess the whole idea of it is for us to really have some “deep conversations”.

Fly Me to Kiwiland |
 |
|

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 11 December 2006.
After a wonderful curry lunch, my best buddies arranged to meet up and have dinner with me. Hehe… since Gigi will have to work a little later, dinner was slightly delayed. Hehe… our initial 9pm meet up was changed to later. Hehe..
At first, we decided to try the fondue place in Sri Hartamas. Since they are closing when we arrived, I suggested that we dine in Kiwi Express. Hehe… I tried to have dinner with my other friends before. Hence, I would say they serve quite good food.
We had a simple dinner, I had this Cantonese Style Kuey Teow with Deer Meat while Gigi had the Kiwi Express Mix Grill Set and Brian trying out their spagetthi (I sorta forgot what he actually ordered). We also ordered Fried Sotong with some honey sauce. Ah… I must say… the Fried Sotong was SUPERB.
It’s so crunchy and yet coated with sweet honey taste. Oh… I think we finish the Fried Sotong faster than our main course. I totally love the food here. Nothing grand but it’s nice. Oh yeah, their kiwi juice is a MUST have. Well, they aren’t called the Kiwi Express for nothing. The kiwi juice is made of 100% kiwi fruit. One can actually taste the texture of the fruit still.
We then take loads of picture around with the flower. Oh yeah, hehehe… Gigi wanted to take a look on the bouquet to see if it turns out right :). Aww it’s really a beautiful night… the restaurant have this huge tree where they hang lots of lights, beautiful bouquet of flower and my best buddies around me. Just a perfect night
Thanks for everything my friends Thank you~

You are my SUNSHINE |
 |
|

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 11 December 2006.
Yippie yippie yeay… the little princess just came back from a relaxing Kuantan trip and yup, wake up to my big day! Haha… yup, the princess is one year wiser! Time pass by so fast… sigh, at times it is pretty much scary. But then again… it’s a happy thing.
Work is as usual, but lunch is different. Hehe… the office decided that we should celebrate my birthday somewhere else instead of in Hotel Maya (again). Hence we decided to try something different. Something really near yet we never try before.
Prem made a reservation at The Deccan Indian Cuisine. Woo.. of course I have no objection since I love Indian Cuisine. I love spicy food… but nothing too spicy. For a building nearby such a busy road, it’s really pretty much empty. We were practically the second customer in the entire place.
Since Prem suggested to dine here, we pass the task of ordering food to him. Seriously, I have much problem trying to pronounce what I would love to order. In cases like this… I would just point to the menu if I have to.
Okay… I always loved Palak Paneer. It’s actually cubes of cottage cheese cooked in spinach puree. I tried those before else where but I never know what it’s called. Most of the time I would refer to it as the spinach dish. I can really say, the ones served here is pretty much thicker than what I usually have. Ah… with cottage cheese… HEAVENLY~
Other food we had includes Murgh Lababdar (Chicken cooked in tandoor and simmered in rich tomato butter gravy flavoured with dried fenugreek), Machchi Ghulabi Handi (Fresh fish pieces simmered in a spiced tomato and brown onion gravy), Tadka Moong Dal (A rich preparation of yellow dal), Deccan Special Surf & Turf Platter (Assorted barbecued platter of chicken, mutton and fish delicacies), Roganjosh (Tender pieces of mutton cooked in spicy indian gravy).
Everything looks like they come in small portion but mind you, they are seriously filling. Believe or not… with all the macho knights surrounding me, we can’t finish what we ordered. I guessed we ordered too much carbs. But… the Naan, Roti Prata and the rice is a must to go along with the dishes.
I really enjoyed all the dishes. They are just so yummy. Probably it’s been a while since I had proper indian food. But seriously… I want more! Sigh… if only my tummy listens to me and make space for more food!
While I was happily dining like a princess, Prem’s phone rang. It seems someone was suppose to deliver something to our office. Since they can’t wait for us to finish our lunch, they asked for our lunch location and decided to send here instead.

When I was chewing… I saw this delivery guy holding a bouquet of flowers walking towards the restaurant. Then the manager came and asked if I am Mandy and said there is a delivery for me.
The first thing that strike my mind, “SHIT!!! Don’t tell me that is for me”. Don’t get me wrong, not that I don’t like flowers… just delivered to my lunch place is a little… dramatic la. Worst is everyone on my table looks at me one kind… asking me who send me flowers. I sorta thank god, that we didn’t actually dine at a packed place.
Then again… before even looking at the card, I already knew. How come? Not much people know I like sunflowers. Hehe yup, sunflower is one of the three flowers I like.
So yup, bingo… it’s from Gigi and Brian. Hehe… yup, they look beautiful don’t day? Yeah, sunflowers always give me this feeling that hope is always there. Probably it’s cheerful colour… I am not sure… but it surely make me happy.
Thanks for the flowers and for such a lovely lunch. *burp* It’s a really beautiful day. Then again, I still won’t make a wish
