Isn’t it weird and ironic?
So yes, shall I continue to practice my design skills? Or should I just stop and be lazy. And now I know why I have a blog… coz I didn’t want them to hear me speak. 😉 |

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 June 2006. We manage to locate our chalet, Bala’s Holiday Chalet. It was much more beautiful than I expect it to be. Beforehand, brian did send me a few pictures. Coincidently the next day, I saw a short review about it on TV. True to the core, the Bala’s Holiday Chalet is one of the oldest colonial building built during the pre-war era and yet still maintain it’s original structure. The building was a former British School and now has been refurbish to capture the original structure and feel of it. It is a peaceful and quiet place. The place is very cozy and give me this feeling like I am a little girl once again. The moment we arrived we checked in. We upgraded from a Family Room to a Family Suite. Yeah, initially only four of us group in for the trip. So when angeline decided to tag along.. we upgraded. Well… it’s worth it.. the Family Room offers 2 double bed and cost RM180. The Family Suite have 2 double bed and 1 single bed. The best part, it’s a two story room. Which means the girls get the top floor since it has a double bed and a single bed there that cost RM250. Yes, I must surely praise our CEO (Chief Event Organizer) Brian, for choosing such a cool location for us to stay. What can I say, it is surely a cool place to stay and a total different experience. I was elected the treasurer for this trip. Yes, everyone will throw in RM150. So yes, all the expenses, room rates, tol, petrol, food… whatever not is being deducted from the pool.
We then jump in to the tv room. This room is kinda small but cozy. Fully equipt with English like deco and lots of event pictures were being sticked to a board. I am quite amazed with the fireplace they have. Ah.. it makes the room so warm and fun.
Woo.. our stomach is making a lot of noise. It’s just time for dinner! We just gotta eat… eat… and eat… Address: Other Cameron post: |

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 8 August 2006.
It was the August babies birthday. In fact, Shirley’s birthday is only one day apart from Azli’s.
We had a belated birthday dinner with her since majority of the gang can’t make it.
Moreover she had a major hangover from Azli’s birthday party, so she needed some time to recover.
How I knew of her hangover?
Shirley gave me a call the next day and told me she was so sick and hugged the toilet bowl to sleep the night before.
I was partly to be blamed since I made her down a few glasses, but it was a birthday party and that happens.
Now back to Shirley’s birthday dinner, Wai Khiong was first to arrive.
Me, Jerry and Caryn followed and arrived shortly.
Once we arrive, we ordered our food since Brian, Jessy and Jon are on their way.
Shirley went back to grab a few bottles of red wines and brought it over to The Waterlily Café.
We thought it was an apt place since we nicknamed Shirley, “Lily”.
It was Brian’s suggestion after he went through the reviews and this place seems to get quite a bit of good reviews.
The café featured a garden concept where one can choose to either sit inside or at the garden itself.
Since there was an air-con malfunction, we decided to sit outside as it is stuffy and we won’t want to suffocate ourselves.
The garden have a relaxing ambience and its wooden furniture gives it a more nature feel.
The best part, a large barbecue counter is located at the at the corner of the outdoor garden.
It was located very near to our table, which means food served would still be hot!
The Waterlily Café is famous for its Bali style charbroiled barbecued meats.
Aside Balinese style food, they also had a large variety of local Malaysian favourites such as Nasi Lemak, cendol and ABC.
Mixing in Western influences to the dishes, they attempted to create ‘Malaysian fusion’ recipes.
I also shocked and amazed at the same time how they come up with the idea to serve fusion food like brown gravy and salad in a dainty Chinese teacup.
We ordered quite a number of barbecue food since this is what they are famous for.
I think we almost ordered everything in the list, among the food ordered were Bali’s B.B.Q Beef, Bali’s B.B.Q Lamb, Bali’s B.B.Q Dory Fish, Bali’s B.B.Q Salmon, Bali’s B.B.Q Chicken, Nasi Lemak with Bali’s B.B.Q Fish and Chicken.
Their food is really very tasty and the meats were cook to perfection.
The barbecued beef tasted so different from the ones we had at steakhouses.
This one seems to have very strong herb flavour especially lemongrass.
I really love the lemongrass taste as I think it totally enhances the flavour and texture of the meat.
I would totally recommend this place if you love Balinese style food but with a twist of Malaysian taste.
If you are a barbecue meat person, this is a to die for place.

It’s time for to salute those who always fight in a battle.
A fighter who fight for their dreams.
A boxer who keeps throwing punches . Jab, jab, punch.
Brian send in his world class boxer-sheep .
The additional explosive like background adds a lot more volume and dramatic feel to the whole feel.
Don’t the eyes looks like they were punched by opponents?
Haha, nice one there.

This week, I prepared a rather sad professional boxer feel.
While I try to put together a cute version, it turned out to showcase a rather sad and lonely side of a boxer.
Let’s go! Fighting!

What is up next week?

A universal remote control that controls the universe. Everything and anything. No manuals attached. No batteries needed. Ah… it sounds just so good. It’s a temptation humans can’t resist. To re-write and write their very own life. But little do we know, every good thing that comes… is attached with a price tag with the font size 6 and with this asterix which sounds something like… *there’s a price to pay, my friend.
Yes, with the big Adam Sandler and only Adam Sandler’s face in the poster, one will surely know he’s the lead and for sure you are watching a comedy. I myself think it would be the same old Adam Sandler style of movies. Comedy… romantic comedy which you watch… then start laughing… continue to laugh… laugh so hard you shed a tear… so excited, it makes the popcorn flies out of the box, the coke just couldn’t stay still and just wants to spill over. But I must say the movie sorta impress me a little. Finally… some Hollywood directors starts to put daily life touches to movies.
The Click, resolves around the Newman family. Michael Newman (Adam Sandler), a very hardworking architect… always wished that there is 48 hours in a day for him to finish up everything. For him, it’s always work, work, work… and promotion.. and getting a better life. Donna Newman (Kate Beckinsale) is Michael’s sweet and lovely wife. She always wish Michael have more time for her and the family. Together they have a son, Ben (Joseph Castanon – age 7) and a lovely daughter, Samantha (Tatum McCann – age 5).
Being so busy everyday, Michael reach home tensed and frustrated. What adds to the frustration list is when he can’t even on the TV. He kept using the wrong remote control for the wrong things. Matters got worst when his neighbour’s show off son, Kevin O’Doyle (Cameron Monaghan) kept irritating him by showing off his expensive stuffs.
One night, being unable to control his anger… he decides to go shop for a universal remote control. Yes, a remote control that controls everything… from tv to lights to fans. Just almost everything. Since it was late night, most marts were closed and only mart that is still open, the Bed, Bath and Beyond store.
It was hilarious to think that Michael actually went to Bed, Bath to look for remote. Obviously the first few sections he only can find towels, more towels, beddings.. and more bed. There, he got so tired and jump on a bed. From there… he saw this little door that writes BEYOND. He then walks in to this small alley and saw Morty (Christopher Walken) at the end of the alley. Michael then tells Morty of his intention of getting a universal remote control.
Morty then bring Michael to the “way beyond” room where he soon pass Michael the most advanced technology gadget. Michael wanted to pay for it. Morty says it was a gift. Michael at first thought it was some trick until Morty tells him that it is free, with the condition that this product is not returnable.
Being so happy about it, Michael reach home with his remote control. Michael notices the power of the remote control when his dog starts to bark in the middle of the night. He points the remote control at the dog and turn down the volume. The magical part, it works. Michael thought he was dreaming or it was the effect from combining mass quantities of cough syrup with yodels.
When he finds out what this gadget can do for him, he starts doing many changes to his life. Fast forwarding arguments, fast forwarding through sex so that he can still have time for work, slow-mo girls jogging, pause and beat the shit out of his boss when he is being irritating, translate languages, fast forward through sickness, fast forwarding through promotions, rewind and go back to past.
He is in deep trouble when he can’t remember stuffs he promise Donna when he is in auto-pilot mode when he is fast forwarding. What is worst he wake up missing out many things in life. Things gone worst as the remote has set itself to auto repeat what that has been set for example, each time Donna and Michael argue, it auto fast forward the time.
Michael starts to panic and tries to return to Morty but at no vail. Michael soon realises what he has done is wrong. And in a blink of an eye, his wife left him because she couldn’t tolerate his weird acts and coldness. Not to even mention fast forwarding sex… haha. Their children grew up to be different from what he expect them to be.
The saddest part of the movie is when Michael finally notices he missed a lot of happy moments that he skipped during the fast forward sessions. He didn’t know his dad has passed away. The moment he knew about it, he tries to rewind to the moment he last saw his dad. It was a saddening scene which makes many shed a tear.
Another dramatic part of the movie was when Ben’s (Jake Hoffman) wedding. I think it was a beautiful wedding. There, Michael finally notices how important family was and he is so happy that his mother is still around despite everything that has happened. Best part, it is still hard for Michael to accept the fact that Samantha has grown up to be a pretty and sexy chick. There, he was struck with a heart attack and being sent to the hospital.
At that moment, he is now so old and yet he have not much great memories to recall back on. The best part is when Morty reveals that he is the Angel of Death. When Ben told Michael that he is going to postpone his honeymoon because of work, Michael quickly rushed out and try to stop him.
Being terribly ill, Michael fall on the way. Ben turn over and saw him and the whole family rush to him. In his last words, he told Ben that family should be the first priority.
The ending sort of disappoint me when Michael wakes up from the bed he jumps to in Bed, Bath and Beyond. It was all just a dream. I personally think the movie would be better left at the scene where Michael died.
But I totally salute Adam Sandler in his skills to portray such a serious character with a dash of laughter in it. I think it was a touching movie that makes people think how much they miss out in life instead of just plain laughs that leads to no thinking at all. Not to even mention they manage to combine the comedy part with the emotional draining part.
I was also surprised to see Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer of The Cranberries who sings “Linger” at Ben’s wedding. Really, truly the Cranberries.

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 June 2006. I guess this journey is far worst than malacca. I was never good with winding road. It makes me want to puke. I have headache… my heart beats so fast as if it’s gonna explode any minute. Worst.. is I kept wanting to know.. how long more to reach.. counting the seconds as it ticks. Let me off the car. Yes I know I should be sleeping. I am sleeping on the highway from KL to Tapah. But the moment we are 1/4 the journey up the hill… I start to be awaken. With the uncomfortable feeling. I wasn’t the only one. Angeline face the same problem. At that point… I was like thinking..” WAH… got KAKI!” Right… might sounds abit cruel to think so but well… at least there is someone in the car who understands how I felt. The moment Brian says Tanah Rata is ahead. I was like…so damn happy as if god had answered my prayers and I will have to kill two chicken, one whole pig (roasted), some cakes and whatever things needed. Me and angeline quickly jump out of the car to inhale some polluted air. Right.. many think it would be fresh air up there.. but seriously… loads of pesticide content in the air. But yeah.. we walked to the nearest gas station. Jon, Brian and Gigi kept asking us to eat some sour plum. Which in this case actually is not of my interest. I like sour stuff like tom yam, asam laksa… but sour plum is just not my taste. But yeah… I whack a small packed which seriously does make me feel better that instant… but after that… nah… it didn’t do any good. We then continue our journey to… our dreamland… our nice little challet! Other Cameron post: |
