Backdated post. Actual event took place on 21 July 2006. The day when everyone felt like eating steamboat. Something soupy and spicy to warm our stomach. I think it’s been a while since I ate steamboat. I always liked steamboat. I never actually understand why. But it’s fun and simple food. Everyone knows how to do it. The dinner started late as some of them have to work late. I think all… since all of them are Gigi’s colleague. Me and Gigi is first to arrive and we decided to order food first since most of them are starving. The rest seems like they have strong sense for food. They all arrive when the food arrive. Hemmm talk about good timing. Woohoo…. Evan was suppose to join us but he have some problems (last minute). 🙁 Sigh… I have not seen him for ages and he can’t make it. But well, the fun must still go on. We all take our time and eat slowly while taking some pictures. The food…. hemmm I sorta felt their standard was a bit off that day compare to the previous time me and Gigi went… or maybe I lost my appetite. Gotta go back one more time to reconfirm.
After food, we decided to go somewhere nearby and play pool. Brewball at Phileo Ampang was the closest. I once work nearby there. And everyday after work, we all would just walk down and play a while before heading back. Wooo.. how relaxing. Yeah, those were the days. Now, hemmm… playing pool is an ocassional thing. Well… as usual, when the others were playing pool, the remaining people would sit down, chit chat, snap pictures and all. It was cool, I think everyone sorta enjoyed the day except for Jennifer. Yeah, she is new to playing pool. And she was sorta shy to learn. Hehe.. but well, at least she likes foosball 😀 |

After thinking for a bit, I finally decided to try out a new hairstyle.
Okay, it supposedly have that Aeon Flux feel. But as you can see, the hair dresser failed on me big time!
I didn’t really like the haristyle. Why?
Cause it makes my face looks fatter!
After sitting in the saloon 💇 for more than 4 hours, I was expecting more.
I finally got home, have a wuick dinner and start get ready to P.A.R.T.Y.
This time with my partner in crime, Gigi, Briand and 2 new friends.
While I have gone out with Winson and Alan for quite a bit, this is the first time we go clubbing together.
I hope I will get to enjoy myself since I didn’ have much sleep the night before.
I practically only slept for an hour, so I was really tired 😴.
I went to pick up Winson and had him drive me to Rum Jungle.
When we arrived, we saw Alan and his housemate Hafiz.
Brian and Gigi arrived not long after that and we proceed to go in.
Since we had a balance bottle, there isn’t much trouble getting the busy and crowded night.
And I love the DJ mixes here especially after 12.30am.
So yeah, let’s just sit down, chit chat a little and have my vodka drink while waiting for the after midnight party.

Finally, we had the change to get together and meet up since Stella is free.
I went back to visit my previous office and meet up with my ex-colleagues.
Yes, the cute and funny bunch.
Stella is still the same and loves to take picture.
And when we get together, the usual snap snap snap 📸.
Which reminded me, have I ever mention that she is the biggest influence to me when it comes to blogging.
Yes, it all started when I saw her taking fun daily pictures and posting it.
And soon, it became a habit for me to take pictures.
Back to our gathering, we practically take pictures at every corner of the office.
Haha 😂, everyone else in the office look at us weirdly but who cares.
When I am with people who are willing to do crazy things with me, I will surely do it.
Keat and Maggie were also at office and joined us for dinner but there were some delay due to work.
While we were busy taking pictures, everyone is thinking hard where to eat.
Stella suggested Umai-ya, since it is one of her favourite place.
I didn’t object, since they serve really good Japanese food.
While the place is small, it is rather cozy.
Unlike their place, their food portion is quite generous.
I personally quite like the place since they have lots of specialty sushi that they created.
It sure is a good choice to dine and get together with them.

Nicole went on a trip with her friends to Bukit Tinggi.
So I took a break and went the nearest club and party
Kenny and Anthony asked me to join them at Passion but we ended up in Poppy.
I was quite surprise to find the place packed since I don’t really club on a Friday night.
I know, I am getting old already .
It was quite a fun night except for the servers at Poppy is still as horrible as ever.
I think I have mentioned and complained about their bad service before and not to mention their rude receptionist.
I got to meet Kenny and Anthony’s friend, Terry who are so sweet and funny.
And all thanks to her, we got our problems in Poppy resolved.
The party ended late and when I got home, I am only left with like less than 2 hours of sleep before going to Genting Highlands with Nicole and my parents.
Now, what is the best way to go on a family trip without them knowing I party late last night?

1. Wear a damn CANGGIH (fashionable) sunglasses, big enough to cover my eyes.
2. Wear bright colour shirt since it always helps to give a fresher look.
3. Pretend to have motion sickness. It naturally explains the pale looking face and “I needed to rest a while” line.
So yeah, GENTING HIGHLANDS and my great cousin.
Your sleepy cousin is on her way.

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 July 2006. Okay.. many people tell many lies in order to make this surprise party happen. So yes, many humans were harmed in the processed. Many trust were broken… many human resources were brought together to make the event happen. It was the first time Gigi celebrating Brian’s birthday together. Yes, she wanted to surprised Brian. Well, obviously everything was more panic, scary, exciting at the same time since it was the very first time. They just got together and I could understand how she tries to get everything to perfection. We all decided to sneak to Brian’s office to surprise him. Gigi didn’t know how to as, when she offlines.. Brian would sensed something. I told her to leave her YM on and asked Alan or Winson to close it for her when they decided to leave office. Gigi left work early, got ready and come and pick me up. I then help her get down and pick up the cake she ordered 3 days ago. Ah…. together, we just drive all the way to Sunway. Yes.. Gigi was so panic. I can tell from her voice and actions in the car. When we arrived, Angeline, Winson and Alan arrived as well. We all then sneak up quietly to Brian’s office. Oh yeah, how we know he will still be there? We teamed up with Jon a few days before hand and make sure he gives Brian enough work to make him stay. Hahaha… we gotta be cruel to be kind at times. Brian was sorta surprised when we all bashed in. His colleagues Lek and Kevin was sorta surprised as well. They then stop work and went dinner together at Atrium, Sunway. The food there was not really good. It was rather cold and what can I say, pricy. I had the fettucini cabonara. I think it tasted sorta weird with the overdose of olives. Brian had the tandoori chicken with puri. The chicken was sorta cold and the puri was sorta soggy. Right after we had dinner, the cake that we asked the people at Atrium to keep aside was brought out. The lights were dim and everyone started to sing the traditional birthday song. Ah yes, lots and lots of strawberry. Everyone have their share of strawberry cake. Hehe… Gigi kept her promise by giving Brian a kiss. Mouth-to-mouth one when she asked us to help surprise Brian. Haha.. she have been thinking of ways to dodge us from taking pictures for days. Hemmm.. notty notty! But it was sweet~ to see both blush and smile like little kids. Jon, Lek and Kevin left the place after the dinner as they still have work to rush. The rest of us just stay back and play some pool.
Brian and Angeline was busy playing pool. The rest of us were rather bored… that is when me and Gigi decided to snap snap snap and snap photos all the way. Wooohoo… not only my cameraphone was used. Winson’s cameraphone was busy snapping pictures as well. Everyone was busy with their own thing.. those that were playing pool.. continue playing pool.. those that were busy with the cameraphones continue being busy.. while those that were busy talking… continue talking. Before everyone goes home, Brian opened up all the presents. Alan and Winson bought Brian Ferrero Roche. Haha… I bought him chocolate as well. But I bought him some japanese dark chocolate. Yes, he loves dark chocolate. The process of buying him this gift was simply hilarious and funny. Yeah, doubt I will talk about it here (right, if you really are that curious to know, come ask me when you see me). Ah.. the lovely present from Gigi… hehe. Gigi bought Brian a Bvlgari perfume set. I went and help her picked the present. I can say, that is the first time in my life, my nose just can’t differentiate any perfume smell at all and it all smell the same. We smell so many perfumes that I think the coffee beans barely help anymore. But well, it was a fun and exciting birthday party I must say. Hehehe… now everyone’s heart can pump a little slower. Movie Title: The Grudge 2
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/10)
Year: 2006
The Grudge 2 official site: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/thegrudge2/
I didn’t want to scare everyone else with the scary pale little kid with the bright red number 2 at the eyes as the main image of this review. Thus, I montage it with the scary house which is said to be cursed. Yes, although I find the poster sorta cliché and overly used, I must say it still freaks me out.
Before I went to the cinema to watch it, I remember one of my friend told me to not watch it. I of course ask them why, and it turns out.. the reason is “Don’t go see it lar, it’s the same as Ju On.” I was totally shocked :o. I replied, “Of course it is the same as Ju On. It’s an adaptation of Ju On. Just that it’s now in English”.
As many have known, horror just wasn’t my thing. People who goes watch horror with me know that. No, I don’t make noises. I dun go hugging the person next to me. I don’t scream. So yes, you may wonder what I do… I scratch the chair, I drink lots of water each time some scary scene is happening, I have lots of hand gesture.
Yes, back to such horror movie… I didn’t watch the first part of The Grudge (back then, I dun have kaki to watch horror movies with). It’s weird, I saw Ju On (Japanese version) part one… missed the sequel. I missed The Grudge but watched The Grudge 2. Yes, so now I have the best of both world.
Okay… the story spins of with three school girls Allison (Arielle Kebbel), Trish (Jennifer Beals) and Miyuki (Misako Uno) dared each other to go in to the cursed house. Allison was the not so popular girl in the school. She decided to go in because she wants to have friends in the school. Trish and Miyuki then tells story about the house to Allison. They then tricked Allison to walk in to this room with this door that links to the attic where the previous owner brutally killed his wife.
Everything went terribly wrong since then. Ever since then, the three girls starts to see weird things. Yes, they kept seeing Kayako (Takako Fuji) and Toshio (Ohga Tanaka). It’s not a good thing seeing them, cause they are ghost and yes, that means someone is going to die or vanish from the surface of earth.
To link to the previous movie, Karen Davis (Sarah Michelle Gellar) was locked up in the hospital for setting the house on fire. When the house is set on fire, her boyfriend was killed as well. Aubrey Davis (Amber Tamblyn) was sent over to Tokyo by her mother to bring Karen back. At the hospital, she met Eason (Edison Chen) who apparently was the reporter who pulled Karen out of the burning house.
Karen thought she could find the solution to stop every. But before she manages to do anything, she died. From naked eyes, she seems to have committed suicide, but actually… *skipped*. Aubrey is set to find out the truth together with Eason as Eason starts to feel uneasy.
He notices that he have been watched and all. On the other side of the story, Miyuki disappeared while Trish was going through hell. Allison return back to USA and guess what she has brought back~
Aubrey tries to find ways to stop Kayako. She is more determine when Eason was dead. She sets out alone to look for Kayako’s mother, only to lead her to death.
The movie is very much like the Japanese version one. I think it was sorta scary for me. The big eyes with thick black eyeliners does the job. Not to mention the pale and bluish skin tone. It’s true, at times… we really don’t need blood to do the scary job. But I couldn’t help laughing each time I saw the going in to the house. I must say, the Japanese version one is by far more scary. Ermm… yes I would say this have much more effect and all.. but I don’t know the original one nailed it more for me.
Each time they open the burnt house.. the door knobs. Pay serious attention to it… the door was so badly burnt. It was black like charcoal but the door knobs were so bright and looks so brand new. Not even a single dirt on it. It was amazing! It was funny.

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 15 July 2006. Ah… just finish eating and chatting at Ivan’s wedding dinner when we all decided we all haven’t have enough of drinks that we decided to head down to Checker’s Pub. Prem was there, so yeah… he can’t make it to the wedding dinner coz he gotta be cashier of the day 😀 Obviously Ivan didn’t join us as he still have his own agenda going on. Everyone except Beatrice went down for a drink. Everyone have a good time.. the music is just right. Yeah, they have the Shahrin Band that day. They were amazing. Probably coz they sing rock songs that I am familiar with. Best of all, they sang some Beyond songs that totally rocked everyone in the group. Everyone of us was like singing at the top of our lungs. Some of he guys were jumping around. Some was with the rock hand signs… some were just plain drinking… more drinking… while some were just sitting around taking pictures. Ganesh was an easy target that night. Maybe coz he dress too macho dy! I left early as my parents came down from PD. So yeah… sorta gotta wake up early the next day to bring them out and about. The guys were still around.. drinking and taking pictures 😀 Every happy moment beind shot down. |
Movie Title: World Trade Center
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/10)
Year: 2006
World Trade Center official site: http://www.wtcmovie.com/
It just didn’t do it for me… despite the hype of the event. Even my greatest respect for Nicholas Cage. No it just fails to nail it. Since Oliver Stone has disappoint me in Alexander… I was not a bit surprised he will disappoint me this time.
I understand the intention and the “happy ending” in this sorta movie to tell how much they have try to overcome the situation, how brave, courage and much love can be… but it totally shadows the intention and what is the core of the movie about. It’s about the World Trade Center. It’s about 11th September 2001. It’s suppose to be a tragedy. It’s suppose to be the worst day in all American’s life. It’s suppose to be a sad day where you felt the lights from heaven just didn’t shine at all.
Despite how much I think it is a boring movie, sad storyline and all, I must say I liked the opening quite a lot where they tells details of police officers patrolling, the busy town, people walking here and there… the slow motion scenes showing the World Trade Center. The conditions of building and stuff around it. It was superb. The colour correction was perfect… it really does bring up the mood. (this is where they score a 2 star)
The moment I saw this plane shadow casted on the buildings… I was expecting something exciting to happen. Probably a little more detailed. To my disappointment… nothing much was shown. Everything else is plainly explained through conversations from walkie-talkie and the real footage that we see over and over again from the television box.
The next scene onwards till the end of the movie, the context of the movie just resolves around the Port Authority cops. In much detail… it actually only resolves around John McLoughlin (Nicholas Cage) and Will Jimeno (Michael Peña). Which I think was boring… and just wrong. It somehow makes this movie sorta like gone out of topic. It was so sadly done that it makes as if there were only 2 person in this whole wide tragic that deserves saving. No attention was paid to the other 9 survivors.
What is worst… this movie, in my opinion should be about the around 2000++ lost, probably about how the event happen… but no… it was the two men talking… talking… talking… and how much it affected their family.
At times… when it gets so boring… I wonder what sorta movie I am watching? Am I watching Armageddon here? Or am I watching Ladder49? Or what? I don’t know… it really does disappoint me a lot.
But I must say, I was sorta impressed with how they portray the thick dust, the scraps after the bomb and the scene when the building collapse on Nicholas Cage. That looks convincing and real. (yes, the other 1 and 1/2 star)
Conclusion, lack of intensity, out of focus, too much drama, just didn’t really understand what they were doing, lack of research and reference of the true event. Seriously, it’s a terrible and sad day, event and I would say a terrible history. Why must somehow end it like a lovey-dovey ending. It just makes me feel so uneasy.

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 15 July 2006. The happiest day in Ivan’s life… the day he move forward and enter another chapter of life. His very big day. His wedding dinner. It’s the first time I saw his wife. Before that.. it’s only the stories he tells me. He surely is a lucky guy to have such a beautiful wife. I still remember him telling me all about his girlfriend.. which at that point of time, was a long distant relationship. His wife was then studying in Switzerland while he was here. Yes, one day he bought this big teddy bear and he decided to post it over to her. The best part, the posting fees turns out more expensive than the teddy bear :D. It felt like he just told me the story yesterday and now, he is here with his wife.. throwing this fabulous wedding dinner and here I am… sitting here witnessing the happy moments. I must say I really respect him that he is able to pass through the long distant thing (as many of my other friends failed). Yes, I really do admire his persistant, trust and everything else which hopefully creates an everlasting bond. The wedding dinner was held at the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort. Obviously I was seated alongside with fellow ex-XMers. It was really a happy and memorable event. We went on to Checker’s after the dinner as they all wanted a second round for drinks 🙂 Haha… as usual la~ (more pictures tomorrow). |
Movie Title: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (6/10)
Year: 2006
Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby official site: http://www.rickybobby.com/
Being a movie crazy person, with fast cars, comedy all add in… who could give this movie a miss. Especially with Sacha Cohen (more known as Ali G) in it. After all, this movie does remind me of the animated CG movie “Cars”.
Telling a story of a legendary driver, Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) in the NASCAR. The Talladega Speedway, is the biggest and fastest racetrack in the NASCAR. Ricky Bobby is born in the backseat of a souped-up Chevelle. He always wants to go and drive fast. When he was young, he took over his mother’s car while she was buying groceries. He was then more motivated when his father, told him his golden phrase “If you ain’t first, you are last”.
Together, Ricky and his best friend Cal Naughton, Jr. (John C. Reilly) decided to be a fast car driver in future. they both started to work as a pit crew member for a team in the NASCAR. However the team was not motivated as they were always last. One day, Ricky got his opportunity to drive when one of the drivers were too slack eating burgers and all. Yes, what a chance!
Then onwards, he is known as one of those crazy drivers that could really go fast! Very fast. He then brought Cal in and make him his partner. Cal would always support and help Ricky out when he needed it most although he could win the race. He just gives everything up for Ricky.
Ricky on the other side starts to get proud. Yes, leading a perfect life having a beautiful and sexy wife, rich and family he started being rude to everyone else. Being so afraid to lose, he wouldn’t even give Cal a chance to win in the race. his luck ran out when his company decides to bring another driver in to boost up the team’s points and position.
Jean Girard (Sacha Cohen) was brought in to the scene, being a famous F1 racer who fancy Jazz music and sips espresso while driving. He is like devil sent to earth to just mess everything else for Ricky. Being a great driver but a gay one surely add a whole lot fun and laughter to the movie.. especially when he requested Ricky to give him a mouth-to-mouth kiss.
Ricky is now in desperate need to beat Jean. So desperate to win that he landed himself in to a major accident and from there onwards, he started having illusions that he is on fire and leads to him driving slower than a tortoise. Ever since then his life gone upside down.
His wife wanted a divorce and get together with Cal. Cal now takes over Ricky’s place. Everything just went so wrong. But one thing for sure in movies like these, we surely does know how the ending will turn out to be without the need of me telling.
Overall, it’s a very entertaining movie with loads of jokes and hilarious scripts. I would say it is a well balance of laughter and action at the same time which keeps the audience focus and not stray away. It’s one of those movie you should really sit down and see when you were troubled and feel down! A sure cure!
