I’d Rather You Not Know

Jill Wai Shi - Ning Yuen Nei Bat Ji Dou

As many already know, most of the songs I recommend or listen to is pretty much related to my current mood or topics that have been recently discussed among friends. I heard about this song quite a number of times, I never know what it means cause I always listen to the ending bits. Of course, from the voice… I always thought it was a song from Janice… which I was obviously wrong. It’s actually a song from her twin sister, Jill (衛詩) titled I’d Rather You Not Know (寧願你不知道).

The other day, Gigi asked me some questions.. hahaha… which is something she is curious to know. She asked me, what is the feeling like when an ex-bf wants you back? Well… and the first thing that crosses my mind, DON’T! Don’t tell me. I’d rather I don’t know about it cause I personally think it does scare me away. Hehe… I am a scary cat~

Yeah, and talk about human being complicated… at times you wish someone just express themselves to you.. and at times, we just rather they keep quiet and not talk about it. So when should we express, when should we not? Hemm…

English and Pinyin translations for songs are available at the comment section.

Spiderman 3

Spiderman 3 (2007)

Spiderman 3 (2007) Rating:

Spiderman 3 official site: http://spiderman3.sonypictures.com/

So much hype… so many talked about it. I was bored when I saw the same trailer on and on each time I enter the cinema. I normally think movies that was overly promoted didn’t look good. Why? Because I think they spent their money on the wrong place.

Then again, it’s worth every single thing to hype about since many loved Spiderman since they were kids… playing with their imagination spider web and stuff. Yes, hype.. hype and hype. It’s all around us. The TV is showing the prequels… they are bombarding us even more with the animated series which one version of it comes in a 3D (glow finishing) that I personally think… sux.

Leave that all aside, I was pretty much ready to see Spiderman which of course I regretted. Not to say it was bad.. but I sorta regret watching it after The Number 23. I know it is of total different genre… but I just can’t help it.

Now, I have tried to write down in short points what this movie is about before the spoilers and must I say.. even the short note takes up 2 pages of my notebook. So, yes… many things have been going on. Hence don’t expect details. It’s a long movie 2 1/2 hour show so expect poor consistancy. I guess this is not a new thing… you are right.. his superhero suit is torn once again… and yes… someone pulled of his mask… and yes… people identified him. I did spoil it all for you? I don’t think so.. since now that most of the people have watched it. Haha… right, I watched it on the premier and have been warned to not post it up so soon to spoil then with what I have to say. Talk about some who can’t stop looking at the spoilers :)

Spoiler begins here.
———————————————————————————————————————–

I didn’t like the starting. Is it me or is the Marvel comic flip intro shorter than any other Marvel intro. How could they make it shorter! How could they! I just love to see the starting of the intro and yet they take the best part away. The worst case senario is when they put a long and boring Spiderman start… which I guess was crucial for those who missed out what happen on the previous movie. But then again… I think it was overly long and it just wasn’t as great as the comic flip. Haha… I know.. I know.. I can’t get over it!

At the start of this movie, Peter parker (Tobey Maguire) seems to have it all… great life, great girlfriend and everything fun. He have been walking around town trying to find a perfect ring to propose to Mary Jane. He then went and visit his Aunt May (Rosemary Harris) to ask for blessing and advice. His aunt then tell storys about her and his Uncle Ben. Aunt May kept reminding Peter that he would have to put his wife before himself if he is really ready to get married. Peter is all ready and got his aunt’s blessings.

As for Mary Jane, her big day is yet to arrive. She will be singing for the first time on the Broadway. She was dressed in this beautiful white gown walking down the stairs singing her song. And yes, Peter make it to her show and was quickly mesmerized with Mary’s performance. Harry Osborn (James France) went to see the play too and send a big boquet of flowers to Mary. When Peter tries to walk up to Harry and tries to explained what happen, Harry just ignore him.

Later on, Mary and Peter decided to go to the park nearby on a little date. Peter make a big web on top of a tree whereby the both of them sleeping on the web while looking at the beautiful sky. Suddenly a metoer fly by and crashes nearby. A black liquid form symbiote ooze out from the metoerite and stick on to Peter’s motorcycle when he and Mary is about to leave.

One day, while Peter is going back home, Harry tries to seek revenge on his father’s death. Using his father’s technology, he transform himself as the New Goblin and attacked Peter. The cat and mouse chase lasted for quite sometime till Harry was hurt by his own weapon. He was then sent to nearest hospital.

At first, Peter was worried as he thinks Harry would be angry when he sees him. It was the other way round. Harry suffered from a memory lost and could not really remember what happened recently. To Peter’s surprise, Harry only remeber very old memories whereby he and Peter is still buddies.

Meanwhile, Flint Marko (Thomas Haden) escapes from jail and tries to look for his daughter. He tries to make it up to his sick daughter and promise her he will do anything he can to cure her. He then leaves his house and tries to escape from police chase. While trying to escape, Flint ran in to a research place. It turns out to be a particle experiment and ended up transforming Flint into Sandman who is capable of shape shifting.

While everything else is happening, Peter and Mary start to have problem. Peter is always busy with his “saving the world” job while Mary is upset when the critics claim that her performance on the Broadway was bad. Suddenly, Peter heard someone requesting for help and ran off in the middle of discussion with Mary. When he arrive, a trailer knock into a building where Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) is modelling. When the trailer hit the building, it caused part of the building to collapse and had Gwen hanging. Of course Spiderman is on time to save her. A new photograher, Eddie Brock Jr. (Topher Grace) was around trying to snap pictures of Spiderman in action, who happens to date Gwen too. Due to Spiderman’s bravery in saving Gwen, a parade is set to honour him.

Peter starts to get obsessed with the attention that he gained. At the parade, he and Gwen kissed on the stage which broke Mary’s heart. In the middle of the parade, Flint attempted to rob a bank. It quickly alerted Spiderman and they both met for the first time and battled. Flint manage to escape. That very night Peter and his aunt was called to the police station. They were being told that the person charged with killing Uncle Ben was not the person they caught. Instead Flint Marko is the one responsible for his uncle’s death. Upon hearing that he is very angry and is waiting for Flint to strike again.

One night, while sleeping, the symbiote bonds with the angry and full of hatred Spiderman’s costume. Noticing the changes in his costume and his powers to turn him into the darker side. However he is quickly loving the new powers that he have. Little does he know the symbiote has slowly change Peter’s personality.

In the meantime, many things seems to happen in Peter’s life. Peter is getting ready to propose to Mary Jane while on his career, he is on a head to head battle with Eddie to get a picture of Spiderman misbehaving. Peter gets a place at a posh restaurant and tries to surprise Mary. However things didn’t work out as planned. To make things worst, Gwen drop by and greeted Peter and they both continue to talk about her kissing Spiderman. This once again make Mary Jane upset and she started to doubt if Peter really loves her enough.

In the midst of confusion, Mary Jane called Harry as she needed some company. Harry suggested for Mary to visit him at home. They both have a great time as Harry tries to cheer her up which ends up with a kiss. Feeling guilty, she quickly ran off. Right after she ran off, Harry starts to regain his memories.

On the other side, Peter finally got his moment when he finally found Flint. He manage to follow Flint to an underground tunnel and battled with him. He then notices Flint’s weakness for water. Flint begs for forgiveness but Peter gave him no chance to explain and simply “wash” him away.

Afftected by symbiote, Peter exposes and insulted Eddie for selling a fake picture of Spiderman. This resulted Eddie to be fired. Eddie did beg Peter to spare him as he needs the job badly, however Peter choose to ignore him.

As for Harry, his hatred for Peter reappears when he regain his memory. He then went and look for Mary and threaten to kill Peter if she refuse to co-operate with him. Mary have no choice but to call Peter out and told him that she wants a break up stating that she have another man. Upset over Mary’s words, Peter seek for Harry’s company. To Peter’s surprise, Harry isn’t there to console him, instead he told Peter he was the other man in Mary’s life.

As Peter left the cafe, Harry turn around and give him a wicked smile. Later that night, Peter went to look for Harry in his mansion. Affected by the symbiote, Peter became very brutal and attacked Harry. He even insulted him. The fight end up in an ungly manner whereby Harry’s face was disfigured.

Ever since the breakup, Peter became a totally different person. He change the way he dress and the way he look. He whistles and flirts with other girls. At one point, Peter even brings Gwen to Mary’s new work place after she have been replaced from the Broadway. He tries to get Mary jealous but ended up fighting in the pub. When mary tries to seperate them, Peter accidently pushed Mary to the floor.

Peter ran off when he starts to notice what he have became. He ended up at the top of the church. Knowing the symbiote black suit have something to do with the changes, he decided to tear the suit apart. However he have difficulties seperating it from his body. Coincidently, Eddie went to the same church praying and wishing for Peter to be dead. As he was praying, he suddenly heard a loud scream.

He notices Peter was on top struggling to get rid of the black suit. Initially he can’t get rid of the suit. With the help of the church bell ring, he manages to rip off the suit. The symbiote then falls down and landed on Eddie’s body. It then takes over Eddie’s body and caused him to be more violent.

Having a new super power, Eddie is set to revenge on Peter for what he had done to him. He then search around town for Flint. He then manage to convince Flint to team up and fight against Peter. The duo take Mary as hostage to lure Spiderman and decides to destroy him.

Peter have no choice and knows he could not defeat the duo. He then seek for Harry’s help. When he saw Harry’s face, he felt guilty and regretted for what he have done. Harry rejected to help Peter as he believe he is held responsible for his father’s death… and now for disfiguring him. After Peter left, Harry’s butler then stood out and explained what actually happen on the day Harry’s father died.

Peter/Spiderman have no choice but to fight Eddie/Venom and Flint/Sandman alone. As he reach to the scene, he notices Mary was stuck in a taxi hanging in a black web located high above the ground. He tries to reach and free Mary but was attacked by Eddie. As he failed and fell down, Flint bashed him over and over again until sudden, Harry appear out of the blues and teams up with Peter to fight against Eddie and Flint.

In the fight process, Harry sacrifice his life to save Peter’s when Eddie tries to use Harry’s glider against them. Right after the glider hit Harry, it hit on some steel bars. The steel bars fell down and created a ring similar to the church bell. Peter then recalled what happened and clang the bars together to weaken the symbiote. Peter tries to seperate the symbiote and Eddie and tries to bomb the symbiote. However, Eddie was too attached and addicted to the power and runs towards the symbiote with causes both Eddie and the symbiote to be bombed into pieces.

After the battle, Flint told Peter that he have no intention for things to get this bad. He then explains to Peter that he initially have no intention to kill Uncle Ben. It was a robbery went wrong and he was desperate to save his daughter’s life. Peter finally understand and forgive Flint.

Peter and Mary then went to look for Harry who is lying on the floor. Before Harry died, he forgive Peter and regarded him as his best buddy in life. The movie then ended with Mary performing in her work place and Peter went to visit her at work, trying to mend things back.

———————————————————————————————————————–
Spoiler ends here.

Ah… so many things happening in this movie… so many that my short note on the piece of paper is full. I am serious, for the first time… one piece of paper is not enough to note down the important parts. I personally think this is the worst Spiderman movie. Not like it is super bad or what, just isn’t the best.

I felt the director tries too hard to cover a lot of angels and worst of all… they introduce 2 villian (3 if you include Harry) in one movie which in compare to previous ones. I felt everything was so rushed out in the movie. It’s like someone going from point A to point B. But in between the process of getting there… one get on a bus.. then get down to change bus… and right after getting down the bus… they have to chase after another bus to get aboad. It’s simply tiring and at the end of the day it isn’t an enjoyable process.

I can’t help but to notice that they reuse a few old footage from the previous episodes… especially the ones where Spiderman is hanging from building to building. Right… why I say so? I notice the huge difference in the colour between footages. It is simply more red back then and more bluish this time. Then again, I can’t really confirm is it me… or is it the movie… or is it the cinema as others doesn’t really seems to notice or pay attention to that.

Like I say earlier… the continuity for this show is like LOW. Especially the ending scene whereby Mary is hanging in the air. For a moment she is at the front seat… at some.. she is at the back seat. Not to mention how Venom ripped Spiderman’s mask while they were fighting… and just by turning the angles… Spiderman have a new mask. WOW! Isn’t that just amazing?

I somehow just think it is bad for a long awaited movie to do mistakes like this. I mean… they take 2 years to get this part 3 released compare to others shows that probably take 3 months to complete. Worst of all… in every episode… they just gotta tear Spiderman’s costume. I mean.. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM? I don’t recall his costume torn that many times in the comic.

Sigh… yes, my rating is probably lower than many people you know. I guess I just expects too much from it :(

My cup of coffee

My cup of coffee
My cup of coffee
My cup of coffee

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 18 November 2006.

After a great Evening Hours™, we all decided to go Genting. Vroom.. vroom. Yippie… we drive all the way from Kota Kemuning to Genting. Hehe.. of course a pit stop at my house since it’s nearby to Genting to grab my jacket. Yeah, I guess I would have freeze to death if I didn’t get my jacket along.

Everyone parked their car outside my place and we got in to Jon’s car. Yippie… car pool is fun. As usual, Starbucks seems to be the pick. Well, much more quiet and warm. I must really say I kinda like their Christmas version of stuff. From the paper cups to the posters, redeem cards. It’s all just so nicely and tactically done.

Did I just say I love Christmas stuff. Yes, as usual… Haha.. so yeah, the guys help us get our stuff while we, the girls… of course take some pictures first. Gigi require everyone of us to do a cute face which all of us gladly do. It isn’t that hard rite?

We did a lot of chit chatting, but mostly asking question about how Jon and June got together. Haha.. poor Jon. Well, what to do.. he question us a lot… especially Brian and Gigi when they got together.. so yes, one can say revenge is sweet… one can also say we are concerned friends and some could even say we are just creating a topic for the long night.

But yeah, they both are cool and sporting people. So it was pretty much fun and laughter the whole night. Now… yes, the question is… if I have a boyfriend… what would my luck and chances of escaping the questioning? Hemm… muahahhaha… it looks ugly!

Evening Hours: The first gathering

Evening Hours™
Evening Hours™
Evening Hours™

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 18 November 2006.

Ah…. such a beautiful name… Evening Hours™ is a little name Brian thought of for our little cooking project. So yes, in future… if there is anything listed with the word Evening Hours™, it’s surely something to do with cooking. Not to forget to credit the logo was done by Gigi.

We headed to Brian’s house. Yes.. since he have a big place, equipted kitchen and cozy environment.. we figure why put those stuff to waste. Brian had to work and so after work he and Gigi went shopping for stuff. As for me, I have stuff to do as well hence I just pass my list of ingrediant to Gigi so she could buy for me as well. Oh yeah.. did I not mention… everyone have to cook one dish? Ah.. yes.. that is the tricky part.

Jon and June was rather busy hence we sorta allow them to buy something and share instead of them cooking. Since they are going to be late, we decided that we should start preparing the food first. When I arrive at Brian’s house, Gigi is already busy cutting up meat, tomatoes, mushroom. Yeah… Gigi is gonna cook spagetthi for all of us. Wooo hooo… yummie yummie. As for me… I will cook Pork Rib in Orange Sauce. I guess the most difficult part would be marinating the pork rib…. and squeezing orange without proper equipment. Haha… As for Brian.. hemmm.. he is doing the Bake Tomato with baby leek and Balsamic Vinegar (Jamie Oliver style).

Sounds interesting? Yeah… everyone seems to cook something that could compliment to each other stuff. Each busy trying to finish their masterpiece. Brian stay around his microwave as his food require only that… while me and Gigi was busy walking around the stove… frying, boiling and doing everything else.

When we are almost done, Jon and June arrive. Jon brought some cheese sausage while June prepared some sandwiches from home and even brought dessert. Awww… a complete meal. Hehe… June didn’t feel good for not cooking anything since it was a cooking project hence… she did something from home. How sweet rite?

We took some pictures, have some wine and started to dig in to our delicious dinner. It was all just so lovely and nice. We finish almost everything. No kidding… haha… are we hungry or what! We then clean up the place… sat down in the living room and chit chat.

Suddenly…. Jon suggested that we go Genting… woohoo!!! Of course we all say OKAY! I mean like since when going out is not okay! It’s been a while~ hahaha… yes… I shall blog about it in the next post~

I crave for more~

I crave for more~

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 10 November 2006.

Indeed everyone have cravings of their own. Like me, it’s different most of the time. What is worst is when everyone around me talk about food a lot. I know this doesn’t only happen to me. Yes, everyone loves to eat. Everyone.. by hook or by crook have to eat (whether you like it or not).

So.. yes… I was chatting with gigi that day and was telling her my cravings and how much I wanted to eat “Kung Pou Kai Ting” and “Lam Yee Pai Kuat”. Haha… I wonder why too. Yes, as you can really see… I am a carnivore. I love mean. I love pork! Yummie!

So before heading to a midnight show, we stop by at Choi Keng Restaurant along Jalan Alor and have our dinner. According Gigi, they serve one of the best stir fry stuff in town.So yes, lot’s of food that I crave for… a vege and a tofu to ceomplete the well balance food group.

I was personally disappointed with the Lam Yee Pai Kuat. I think it wasn’t seasoned and marinated long enough. The fermented bean curd taste wasn’t really strong. And when the pork rib fails to absorb the taste… one can say… the dish fails terribly.

*ting ting ting* The Kung Pou Kai Ting was alright except the fact that it was a little too sweet for my taste. Nothing wrong with the dish.. just that when it comes to main course… I prefer nothing too sweet. The vege and the tofu was pretty standard. I personally believe nothing can actually go wrong with safe dishes like this.

Only people like me could screw up vege and tofu dish. No kidding~ So yes, if any restaurant does screw up on dishes like this. Be sure not to return! Well, Gigi agreed too that their standard dropped a little from her previous visit. Who knows… probably the cook is in a bad mood.

To Appreciate Love

Alex Fong & Stephy Tang - Hou Hou Lyun Ngoi

Okay… the big surprise was this. I wasn’t really a fan of Alex Fong. In fact, I wasn’t a fan at all. However, my cousin Nicole could possibly be one of his greatest fans. Right, and I think I just give more than like 5 reasons why I didn’t like him yesterday. And since today is the “today in history” day… I decided to put up this one song that I like. Surprisingly it was from Alex Fong (方力申) and Stephy Tang (邓丽欣) titled Hou Hou Lyun Ngoi (好好恋爱) loosely translated as “To Appreciate Love”.

Well, it was quite and old song… yes, I am aware of it’s existance but never manage to find out what title it was until it became the theme song of some radio series. I then manage to get the meaning of the song, which I really like and think it is cool. Of course this is a surprise thing for Nicole… hence I didn’t really have the time to translate it to english.

Pinyin translations for songs are available at the comment section.

I crash at sheep’s place

I crash at sheep's place
I crash at sheep's place
I crash at sheep's place
I crash at sheep's place
I crash at sheep's place

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 04 November 2006.

*blink blink* The moment I wake up was like in the afternoon. *yawn* Yeah, I sleep till kinda late on weekends. Especially when I go out till late night on Friday’s. Unbelieveably… I wake up to notice I need to a little house cleaning before I jump to get ready myself to attend an important ocassion.

Yes, my fellow VVIP.. Brian’s House Warming Party. I finally get to visit his house :). I was pretty much excited so I decided to leave home early to see if there is anything I could help. But my excitement was quickly washed down the traffic jam.

Ah… still… I am an hour early. Haha… I finally reach his house at Kota Kemuning. One surely will not miss the place as it was the only one with a big white tent outside. When I arrive, the host is no where to be seen. I knew Gigi arrived as I parked right behind her but she was no where to be seen. Strangely… I felt weird when there seems to be no one I know of there. I start to wonder if I got to the right house.

When I saw Beerbrat (Brian’s brother)… is like me seeing a saviour! I was so glad and he showed me the way upstairs. Ah… brian just got out from shower… now no wonder he didn’t pick up his phone. Yes, the he bring me around a little. Give me a little tour around his beautifully furnished home.

I was surprised Kean Tat came all the way from Singapore. Aw… he is sweet enough to finish up 2 painting for Brian as a gift. I personally think the two painting was fabulous.. one in red and another one in black and white (my pictures didn’t do the masterpiece any justice). It’s been a while since we met so we chit chat for quite sometime at the kitchen without even noticing more and more people have arrived.

Slowly, more and more familiar faces came. Yeah, yet another gathering. Brian’s colleagues then arrive… ah… and the best surprise… hahaha my another fellow VVIP, Jon brought his girlfriend, June along. Haha… This is the very first time I met her.

Awww… I can see his shy face when everyone tease him. Haha… really lots of surprise. When most of the people arrive, we make our way to the buffet spread and started to eat. Unlike Jane’s selection, Brian’s selection was more western style. It’s something new for me as in.. this is the first time I had western style buffet outside of a hotel.

Er.. why no food pics? Er.. let’s just say I was too hungry. No kidding… if you really notice… I haven’t had anything since yesterday~ After dinner, the guys decided to head in and play some PS2 while some of us remain to chit chat outside. The chit chat group grew bigger then more and more of them were bored of playing games.

Yet another late night, yet another party I have crashed into.

The Number 23
The Number 23 (2007)

The Number 23 (2007) Rating:

The Number 23 official site: http://www.number23movie.com/

So… Jim Carrey is back and this time a dead serious show. Something very much different than Fun with Dick and Jane. It has been quite some time since Jim Carrey has actually pick to act at some serious shows. And when he does pick to act in one, he excels at doing it. I personally think he did well in the Truman Show, even better in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

As much as how every one like his dumber and funnier side, I look at him in a total opposite direction. I think he was too annoying in comedies as I find him, most of the time over react and I don’t get it, I just felt like slapping him at his face each time I see his look.

I never did know or hear much about this movie. I think it wasn’t really promoted over here. I never did see any trailer showed before movies nor heard anyone talked about it beforehand. Well, like I always say, great movies always have it ways.

Before anything, I must really say… they have a SUPERB opening. I love how they do such stunning yet themed opening. It’s beautiful… it’s numbered, pure black, red and white which they manage to explain in the movie later on… not to mention the typwriter typeface. Wow… it was superb. The opening title montage itself scored a 4 points from me already.

Spoiler begins here.
———————————————————————————————————————–

The movie started with a flashback to Walter Sparrow’s (Jim Carrey) life few days back. Walter is an animal control officer. Most of this time was spent sitting in the truck, waiting for calls to catch stray and dangerous animals. That very day was his birthday. Thinking he could get out of work in time as he receive no call, his fellow reception called him 1 minute before he gets of from work to catch a dog.

He sensed something funny with the dog and started preparing himself to capture the dog. In the process, he even tell story to the dog. When he successfully capture the dog, he tries to flip his dog tag to know who this dog belongs to. As he approaches to touch the dog tag, the dog attacked him and manage to escape. Walter then chase after the dog until he reaches to a nearby cemetery. The dog is seen sitting nearby a grave with the name Laura Tollins’ (Rhona Mitra) carved on it. Walter then took out his gun and wanted to put the dog to rest. As he gets ready to aim, the dog disappeared. Feeling shocked and strange, Walter left the place to pick up his wife Agatha Pink (Virginia Madsen).

Agatha owns a cake shop. On that day, she and Walter plans to celebrate birthday at Agatha’s friends house. Walter is suppose to pick her up, whereby he came late due to work. While waiting for Walter, Agatha walked in to the bookstore next door and started looking at books. One red book caught the attention of Agatha. She flip a few pages and started to read whle waiting. When Walter arrive, Agatha decided that she would buy the book for Walter to read.

They then headed to Agatha’s friend, Dr. Isaac French (Danny Huston) home. Agatha is busy talking and catching with her friend. Feeling a little bored, Walter took out the book Agatha bought and started to read.

The book talks about how this young little boy wanted to be a detective will only be known as Fingerling (Jim Carrey) in the book. At young, Fingerling witness a death of a neighbour. Fingerling loves to read detective comics and belive that his neighbour didn’t commit suicide, instead.. she was murdered. As Walter continues to read, he felt he have many similarities with Fingerling.

In the book, as Fingerling grew up, he successfully became a detective. He was a famous detective and he manages to get the attention of Fabrizia (Virginia Madsen). Fabrizia is a hot and sexy woman whom is so sexually addicted to Fingerling. She is often seen in scenes teasing and seducing Fingerling.

One day, Fingerling accept this case whereby he would have to calm a girl who is in the midst of commiting suicide. He tries to stop her from doing so.. only to know he couldn’t help her out. The girl was know as “Suicide Blonde” (Lynn Collins). As Suicide Blonde was talking to Fingerling, she tore the white paper covering all the four walls and reveals lots of scribbles. It seems that Suicide Blonde was cursed with the number 23. Her father commits suicide too as a result from the obsession of 23. His father thought they could end everything when he died.

However, after listening to the Suicide Blonde, she notices she was cursed as well. She then explains and show calculations on how everything about her is related to 23. From birthdate to favourite colour and names. Fingerling was speechless and think of this as only her obsession. He then walk out from the apartment thinking he successfully stop her from commiting suicide. He was shocked when he saw the Suicide Blonde fall and died right in front of her.

Ever since the Suicide Blonde’s death, Fingerling starts to be obsessed with the number 23. He started his calculation only to notice that the number 23 curse has spread to him. He started doing massive calculation which scared and disturbs Fabrizia.

Back in reality, Walter too was obsessed with the calculations. He started calculating every which ironically tally to the number 23. He told his wife and his son about this. However Agatha thinks that Walter was simply too in to the book. His son, Robin (Logan Lerman) initially didn’t believe him. As he do more calculations, it started to convince him a little.

Agatha then asked Walter to visit Isaac for some help. When he arrive, he did asked and discuss the 23 theory with him. Isaac told Walter that there isn’t any scientific proves but many of what we know today is somehow related to the number. Walter then takes the book back to the bookstore to try locate the author. There, Walter found out that the book was written by someone known as Topsy Kretts and that this is a self published book and that the author did not produce any book before or after the Number 23 book.

According to the book, Fingerling was obsessed with the calculations which make him neglect lots of his work. As a result, he was suspended from work. Fabrizia soon lost interest with Fingerling as he no longer is a detective and started to see other men.

Back in real life, after reading the book, Walter suspects Agatha and Isaac was getting together behind him. He started to get suspicious and his weird behaviour comes to and extreme when he dreamt of himself killing Agatha. The dream was so real that he got scared and decided to stay out for the night. He left a message on the table telling Agatha that he needs to clear his mind and will be staying out for the night.

In the middle of the night, Walter stop by at King Edward’s Hotel and decided to just bunk there for the night. Thinking he was cursed, he was surprised that the owner didn’t offer him room number 23. Instead, they arrange him to stay in room number 25. Walter then asked the owner if he could have room number 23. The owner then told him that the room have some plumbing issues and could not be rented out for the night. Little does Walter know, people around him was looking at him weirdly when he make the request.

Walter continues to read the book only to end at Chapter 22 whereby Fabrizia was murdered by Fingerling when she decided to walk out of his life and be with his superior. After murdering Fabrizia, Fingerling is standing in front of a balcony hesitating if he should commit suicide to end the number 23 curse.

Just as Walter looks out the window, He saw the dog and tries to catch it again this time. Walter then followed the dog back to the cemetery. He then shot the dog and it rested to sleep. He then walk near it to see the tag which spelled NED. The cemetery care taker then asked what Walter is trying to do when he later explain. The care taker then explained that NED is watcher for this cemetary.

Next to Ned, Walter notice the grave of Laura Tollins where she died on her 23rd birthday. The care taker then tells more about how Laura was killed by his professor, similar to how Fabrizia was killed. He also mentioned that no one actually found the body of Laura.

Walter then comes to a conclusion that the book was a confession to a murder and it was written by the professor. Walter then went to visit the professor in the jail trying to find out what actually happen. He denied the fact that he killed Laura and told Walter that he actually loved her. Walter then ask him if he wrote the book. He denied it too stating if he would have published a book, he would never use names like Topsy Kretts (Top Secret). Walter then left the place feeling lost as he is out of clue to find out who is the actual Topsy Kretts.

While driving Agatha and Robin back, Robin mentioned that he knows where to find Topsy Kretts. While reading through the book, he found a secret page whereby a mailing address was listed in it. Trying to lure the author to reveal him/her self, they send 23 box filled with sponge to the mailbox. They then hide across the street to see who appear and receive the package. Noticing someone was there to receive the package, Walter walk in and confronted the guy. When he saw WAlter, he paniced and stated that Walter should be dead and he would have to end all this and slit his own throat.

Agatha then ask Walter to leave the man and drive Robin home while shouting to the owner of the place to call the ambulance. As Walter left, Agatha tries to put his head near to the guy and listens to what he has to say. Agatha also found an I.D card from the man’s pocket indicating that he was Dr. Sirius Larey working in a mental institute. He told Agatha that she must go to the place and burn it down as it is where all evil begins.

Agatha never mention anything to Walter and went to the abandoned and found Dr. Sirius’ old office. There, she saw a small room filled with scribbles and calculations as well. Inside that room, she saw a box and Walter’s name was on the label.

Back at home, Walter and Robin kept looking through the book to find more clues. While they were reading through, they found out that every 23rd word on every 23rd page spells out a message. The message asked them to go to Casanova Park and dig under the steps of heaven. Robin thought Casanova Park was a person’s name but Walter quickly corrects him and brought Robin along to a nearby park named Casanova Park.

When arrive, they saw “The Steps of Heaven” whereby it has 23 steps. At the 23rd steps, they started digging and found a skull believed to be the remainings of Laura Torllins. They went to call the police from a nearby phone booth. When they return with the police, the skull was gone. The police was furious as they thought Walter and Robin was playing prank calls. Agatha then arrives to the scene with Dr. Isaac. This has made things more uneasy for Walter as he believes Agatha and Dr. Isaac have a secret love relationship.

Agatha then follow Walter and Robin home. On they way back, Walter saw Ned and tries to run over it as he believe he is the cause of everything. If it was not for him, he wouldn’t be late and Agatha would not have seen the book. Walter finally stops when Agatha hold him tight and ask him not to do it.

Once they arrive, Agatha rush in to wash her hands. Water notice the dirt in the hand and suspected that Agatha was the writer of the book and tries to save herself by removing the skull. He then search her bag to notice how she brings a knife along with her all the time. Robin rush in and was shocked to see how Walter was pointing the knife towards Agatha claiming her as a murderer.

Agatha have no choice but to tell out the truth that Walter is actually the killer and that he wrote the book. Much to his own disbelief, Agatha brought Walter to the institute and showed him the box containing the original manuscript with Walter’s name on it. Besides that, there were many detective comics, a saxaphone and many other things.

Everything soon became clear and Walter rush out and went to the King Edward’s Hotel. He then make his way to room number 23 and tore down the wallpaper. Behind the wallpaper was the chapter 23, a continuation of the book. Walter was not brave enough to confess his mistakes in the book worrying he might be caught. Hence, he wrote it on the wall back then.

On the wall, it explains everything. What happen actually was true. When young, Walter’s father commit suicide when his mother died. Walter’s father left some suicide notes which doesn’t mean anything accept some numbers that adds up to 23. As Walter grew up and went to college, he gets to know Laura Torllins and fell in love with her. They both have an intimate relationship. Back then, Walter is already obsessed with the number 23.

Not long after that, Walter notices that Laura is not being faithful and is sleeping around with her professor. When Walter confronted Laura, she claimed that she never loved him and he was weird. Angry with what she said, Walter kills Laura. The professor was mistaken for the murder when he accidently holds the knife in the murder scene. Walter then burried Laura. He then heads to King Edward’s Hotel and started to write his confession.

After finishing his confession, he jump down the balcony trying to commit suicide. However he survived but lost his memory. He was then transfered to the mental institue where he undergo some intense therapy whereby Dr. Sirius is working. Dr. Sirius reads the manuscript that Walter wrote and decides to publish it under the name of Topsy Kretts. Little does he know, he himself was obsessed with the number 23 after reading the book.

When Walter finall recovered from his trauma, he was released from the institue where he first bump in to Agatha. Later, Walter tries to commit suicide once again after knowing the truth but fails to do so when Robin calls for him. He now knows that he have family of his own and death is not the way out.

He then turns himself in, therefore freeing the professor. Even when in jail, Walter is optimistic about his future with Agatha and Robin. The scene then zoom in to the clock showing 2.15 (literally 2 and 3 when see on a clock).

At the end of the movie, there was a quote from the bible which goes like “Be sure your sins will find you” 32:23.

———————————————————————————————————————–
Spoiler ends here.

I really think it was a good movie. Something different from what every other movie have. Yes, I think it was pretty neat and new in terms of concept wise. I must say Jim Carrey gave a powerful perfomance. But little do I know why most critiques think it was bad and scored it way less than any stupid act Jim Carrey did. Then again, probably they were expecting some stupid and dumb show. To be honest, I think the critique’s review didn’t do this movie justice. I am serious… most of the readers review think it was good which includes me but.. wow… no one could actually imagine how it was badly rated by the critiques.

The movie was shot beautifully. It was colourful. The colour correction and treatment was perfect. Not to mention the directing and angles was just great. If there was a thing I could pick on, I would say the ending fails me. I personally think the ending reveals too much and would be better at the point where he went back to the abandoned institue to finds out the truth.

Yes, I know… I always hates movie that gives out too much. For me, I like subtle hints which makes you a little curious and left you think a little would be just nice. Nothing too much… nothing too little.

I would seriously recommend this show if you are looking for something different, something weird and if you love to see the serious side of Jim Carrey. Yes, welcome to the dark side.
