“Do As You Like” Day

Weeee…. we’ve hit the 2 year mark. And decided to just celebrate it  with the theme “Do As You Like”. So what exactly me and Deon did. Hemmm… we just follow the flow and do things that cross our mind.

And so, after we woke up.. the first thing that pops up at Deon’s head is “Fried Rice”. Yup, and particularly the one in Chatterbox. So Chatterbox…. here we go!

2nniversary

Funnily, my dear didn’t order fried rice as what he initially thought of. Instead he ordered Set Lunch A which consist of Cheese Bake Rice with Fish in some spicy sauce, Yin Yong HK Style (cold) and a bowl of soup of the day (RM12.90). As for me, I ordered the HK Fried Rice with Beef (RM10.80) and a HK Ice Coffee (RM3.80).

2nniversary

To date, I think they serve the best Cheese Bake Rice. Yup, much better than Wong Kok Char Chan Teng and Kim Gary. Yum yum! And I love all their fried rice.

2nniversary

We then walk around a bit and decided to head down town to KLCC. Yup! I’ve been DYING to go Kinokuniya, while my dear wants to search for his Victorinox wallet!

Ah, and each time I go Kinokuniya… I sure walk out a broke person. I can’t believe how that have such wide range with such interesting books, in comparison with other bookstore here.

After shopping, we went queue up to get tickets for The Time Traveler’s Wife, which caught my attention back then when I saw the trailers. Since we have extra time before the movie starts, we had our tea break in Chili’s.

2nniversary

We both share a basket full of Chips and Queso (RM14.95). I ordered a Pineapple Juice (RM8.95) too. Yup, that’s my favourite drink each time I go to Chili’s. Deon just  love the Queso. Of course we both think Oscar (Deon’s little cute doggy) would love it too since he loves cheese. We are still figuring what ingrediants they put in to make such yummy queso!

2nniversary

Then it’s movie time! Yeay!!! I’ve been wanting to watch this movie ever since I saw the trailer. Not to mention, with Eric Bana in the movie!

The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)

Rating:
The Time Traveler’s Wife official site: http://www.thetimetravelerswifemovie.com/

Wow, it was such a deep and beautiful story. I mean, to begin with… I think the person who wrote this book is like… I don’t know how to put in words. I guess it’s really amazing that someone actually think of something this interesting. I mean, what the time traveler have to go through in his life.. not knowing where he would end up at. And well, not to mention the stress and loneliness the wife have to go through. I love this. I think it’s amazing!

After movies, we then drop by at the Secret Recipe near my house to have dinner!

2nniversary

I ordered the Tom Yum Noodles (RM13.00) while my dear ordered his old time favourite, Grill Black Pepper Chicken (RM13.50) and we both shared the Appletiser (RM7.80) and the Grapetiser (RM7.80) and followed by a slice of Pecan Butterscotch Cake (RM6.50).

2nniversary

It’s been a while since I had Tom Yum in Secret Recipe, but I still love how generous they are with the mushrooms! I think it would be better if they could add in some Straw Mushroom!

2nniversary

While my dear enjoy his Griller Black Pepper Chicken, I can’t stop eating the cake despite how I keep saying “I’m full” cause I just love butterscotch! Awwww…. buttery taste with crunchy Pecan Nuts! This is such a great closure to the perfect day!

More Movie Chaos~

Igor (2008)

Rating:

Igor official site: http://www.igor-movie.com/

At first glance, this animation gives me the impression of it being one of Tim Burton’s style of animation. But once you see the trailer over and over again, it’s clearly NOT a Tim Burton movie. Looking at how cute and bubbly the characters were, one would have figured… it isn’t that dark and scary and monstery show. And yup, the smart BRIAN… opss.. i mean brain. And how ironic beauty, life and monsters all can be. Okay… not forgetting the invisible pants.

P/S - My personal experience with this movie is a diasaster. And I finally know why there aren’t much people watching movie in TGV. The entire show, the audio was horrible!

Twilight (2008)

Rating:

Twilight official site: http://www.twilightthemovie.com/

Awwww… a romantic vampire love story. I think in this movie, I practically never see the famous “vampire teeth” at all. I think being a vampire is so cool. One gets to shine like diamonds under the sun, good looks, don’t need to sleep, jumping from trees to trees, run faster than a car and of course the immortal part. But hemmm… this is what happens when a vampire falls in love with a normal human. Of course, there are needs for a baddie in the movie. And this movie makes it so clear that a part 2 will come up, if this one is selling like hot cake. It makes me wonder, a vampire doctor… how does he chooses his next bite?

Madagascar (2008)

Rating:

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa official site: http://www.madagascarmovie.com/

That’s what you get when you put a HUGE hippo, a CONFUSED zebra, a SICK giraffe, a DANCING lion and 4 HIJACKING penguin together. After being lost and trying to make their way back, they actually really make their way back… just this time, they really head back to their home… Africa. Everyone have their fair share of happiness, some found their other half, some met up with their long lost family members and yeay… everyone found more and more of their own kind. Yup… so you wanna move it move it to Africa with them?

Quarantine (2008)

Rating:

Quarantine official site: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/quarantine/

This is the type of movie which in my opinion falls right at my love and hate movie list. Honestly, if not watching with my group of friends, this movie would be my least to watch show. Firstly, the cast didn’t really make an impact on me. Secondly, it’s a horror show… whereby I know I probably would cover my face or scratch the chair for probably 1/2 the time in the cinema. Yup, that all kinda happen. But well, it isn’t that bad after all. It is a good movie, with lots of suspense… and definately lots of shocking scene.

007: Quantum of Solace (2008)

Rating:

007: Quantum of Solace official site: http://www.007.com/

Aha… Bond… James Bond. Yes, the same classical line which manage to still capture my attention. Disappointed with the opening scene and the fact that there ain’t much nice cars and gadgets. But thank god, the action did manage to pick up and score the goal. Hehe… I love the continuity of the movie from the previous. Very neat, very tidy. Yes, Bond will be Bond.

GP506: The Guardpost (2008)

Rating:

GP506: The Guardpost official site: http://www.gp-506.kr/

Korean show always manage to capture my attention. They either have super cute and funny love story show, horror and scary movie that makes you have nightmare or weird shows which makes you wonder how would anyone do this sorta thing show. Which is really cool… cause their show is simply out of the ordinary. The plot, the twist… and the originality itself. My… this is one good show, I wouldn’t be surprised the Americans is going to remake this show and score an award in the coming years.

Mama Mia! (2008)

Rating:

Mama Mia! The Movie official site: http://www.mammamiamovie.com/

Mama Mia… Here I go again. If you are a fan of Abba, you will definately love this show. Of course, not forgetting fans of Meryl Streep or Pierce Brosnan who wishes to see them sing. Haha… I find this movie sorta cool, probably because I grew up to listen to Abba’s and I am definately a fan of Meryl Streep. But beware of Pierce Brosnan singing… he might just make you laugh non-stop.

Bangkok Dangerous (2008)

Rating:

Bangkok Dangerous official site: http://www.bangkokdangerousmovie.net/

Sometimes, you wish someone would just stop at their best. This show proves exactly what I mean.  Upon winning some awards, the Pang brothers decided to remake their winning movie with the same title.. but this time, trying to hit the European market. But I honestly think this movie seriously sux big time. The storyline is in a mess, not to mention Nicholas Cage looks like the uncle next door which suffers from mid-life crisis… and Charlie Yeung… some female lead whereby the show could just take all her scene out and no one would even notice it. I would rather re-watch The Replacement Killer 3 times than watch this… if given the chance to turn back time.

Painted Skin (2008)

Rating:

Painted Skin official site: http://huapi.ent.sina.com.cn/

Mmmm… Donnie Yen did it again~ He is in one of those over-rated shows whereby everyone figure or thought he would do loads of action and fighting. I guess this time he is trying for something new, instead… he plays a more comical role with minimal fight scene. This actually isn’t any action movie, instead it is actually an urban chinese folklore with lotsa lovey dovey in it. Of course the main focus for me would be Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei… both pretty in their own ways. It is an interesting show in it’s own class with nice cinemathography.. but the show somehow ended badly. I hate the sudden change at the ending… which completely makes no sense. Then again… how many movie these days makes any sense?

Harold and Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008)

Rating:

Harold & Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay official site: http://www.haroldandkumar.com/

According to Deon, this is the second part of the show. This show seriously is disgusting and definately a show one must keep away from children below 18. This sorta movie seriously is not my kinda show as I seriously don’t find any of the content funny at all… instead I am pretty disgusted and I thank god… I miss out the first part.

Money Not Enough 2 (2008)

Rating:

Money No Enough 2 official site: http://www.moneynoenough2.com/

Who in this world would ever say money is enough. This is actually the second part of the show, riding on the success of the first episode shown in cinema 10 years ago. As usual, making fun of the current Singapore government issues and the basic financial issues every family encounter. I still think the first one is the best… and must I say, this movie is one of those which I would catergorized as 3D overload which kills the movie entirely. Seriously… I seriously think one should just go back to basics. 3D is to help enhance the movie… not overdo it to make the movie look cheap.

The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)

Rating:

The Other Boleyn Girl official site: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/theotherboleyngirl/

Definately a movie in my 2008 A list. I mean, what could go wrong… all the best people, nice scenery… good cinematography and great storyline. It is a simple movie which would help one to understand more of the England history. And I would say, this show pretty much make male think twice about just trying to get a male heir. Seriously… does it really matter that much?

Chaos (2008)

Rating:

Chaos official site: -

Okay… this is one of those show which I would catergorized as “Hong Konglow budget exprimental” movie. A show whereby all scenes is recorded and done in a studio… with loads of cast one have never seen before. I don’t really know what to say. I didn’t exactly like the treatment. The fact that it has some similarities with Death Race (minus the death races) and ermm… virus outbreak.

Awake (2007)

Rating:

Awake official site: http://www.awakethemovie.com/

Jessica Alba, nothing she does can go wrong. At least that’s what most guys think. But I seriously think this show is a flop. Her acting is bad, the role she picked up is bad. But I gotta credit her to finally picked up a villian character this time. I dunno… maybe I expected something more in this movie instead of lots of talking. It is all very predictable and I am pretty disappointed that this show doesn’t exactly have anything more to it.

Marriage With A Fool (2006)

Rating:

Marriage with a Fool official site: -

This is one of the basic romantic love movie made in Hong Kong. Of course the lead consist of the teen idols and rumoured screen lovers Stephy and Alex. The titles pretty much explains part of the show. Whereby a young couple got married. Guys then got in to a big fight with wife and finds comfort with another girl… whereby, as expected they divorce and both goes seperate ways and both gets on with life with their other half. The typical ending… after twist and turn… they seperate from each other’s partner and got back together. But… what I like about this show is… the question, will everything ever be the same again? Cats will always be cats?? They always loves fishes don’t they?

Death of the Warriors.

Death Race (2008)

Rating:

Death Race official site: http://www.deathracemovie.net/

Death Race, hemm… how would I exactly catergorize the movie. It’s a little “Fast and Furious” and a little “Battle Royale” mixed together. Of course, the fast cars and Tyrese does reminded all of us about Fast and Furious. But I must say this is a little better, you get to see the violence and blood and haha… you get to hear chinese foul language. Now, this movie does create a little goosebumps for me cause I am kinda scared when it comes to movies that shows you brain cells flying everywhere, body pieces and blood splats everywhere. But hey, it does gets the blood pumping fast. Go for the action, ignore the storyline and the character development.

An Empress and the Warriors (2008)

Rating:

An Empress and the Warriors official site: http://www.anempressandthewarriors.com/

I kept telling myself “No, I won’t get it. I won’t get it.” but well, in the end… I still think it deserves a try. Yes, a movie with 3 lead actors who seriously needs to learn how to smile. Simple American says my sis don’t smile. Wait till he sees this 3 combos together. The title of the movie is pretty self explainatory. The empress, who else since there is only one lead actress. The warriors… hahaha.. of course the others who tries to protect her. From my understanding of this movie… there is nothing to understand. The whole show seems dull and boring.

Don’t Mess With The Best.

You Don't Mess With The Zohan (2008)

Rating:

You Don’t Mess With The Zohan official site: http://www.youdontmesswiththezohan.com/

Wooo… a new movie by Adam Sandler. Hehe… of course comedy movie is my love. Who doesn’t like a dose of laughter in their movie. But I must say, I think this movie is a little overdose of promotional campaign. From products to even Mariah Carey. I mean… seriously, too much… and too much advertising. I wouldn’t say it isn’t funny, but just not to my liking. I think it is really making fun of other races/nationality for it’s humour. I much prefer Adam Sandler in their romantic comedy or some more smart comedy way.

Wall E (2008)

Rating:

Wall-E official site: http://www.wall-e.com/

Hehe… being someone who like animation movie, I definately won’t miss this movie. The trailer is enough to lead me to the show. Now… I am quite amaze with this show since they really do a good job in the expressions. In the entire movie, the robots practically didn’t even talk. And yet, a strong message is delivered to the audience. Of course, this isn’t exactly the best Disney Pixar animation… but well, it is really one of the best animation movie of the year :). Hehe… and seriously, it makes me think… convenience and technology do come with a hefty price tag.

Babylon A.D.(2008)

Rating:

Babylon A.D. official site: http://www.babylonadmovie.com/

I thank god that I got free movie passes for this one. I though Forbidden Kingdom is bad enough, but this… is way and beyond worst. It is just a movie that rides on the famous names such as Vin Diesel and Michelle Yeoh. I hate to admit it but Michelle Yeoh seriously needs to pick the movies she acts in. Don’t bother about this movie as it has no storyline, no continuity, no character development and worst, it has no ending. After finishing the movie, I practically have no idea what is the purpose in the begining and it seriously make no sense.

Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears A Who! (2008)

Dr. Seuss fantasy land always amazes me. I used to see a lot of it’s movie and hence, I decided not to miss this as well, morever it is in animation format. Hehe.. Madhatter is right, the kangaroo in the movie do remind me of someone. This movie practically carries a simple message that makes me wonder. We think our world is so huge, but probably we are as tiny as a speck. Do we really have any privacy… are we being watched?

Dark or Dead.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Rating:

The Dark Knight official site: http://thedarkknight.warnerbros.com/

A long awaited LONG movie, the last Heath Ledger movie and probably one of the best Batman movie ever. I totally love the show… especially how dark it could be… and how psychotic Joker would be. I never would have thought Heath Ledger could carry the role so well. Perfect storyline, perfect character development,  perfect cinematography and a perfect joker. But I somewhat think Christian Bale is too thin to be Batman (especially his face) and his voice after he suit up being Batman… haha… hilariously funny but annoys me to time to time. But what disturbs me most… Edison Chen. OMG!!! He is like so super duper extra in the movie. I would think he acted in a bigger role. But what is worst, they blured his face out! Sigh~

Over Her Dead Body (2008)

Rating:

Over Her Dead Body official site: http://www.overherdeadbodymovie.com/

Haha… seriously, from the poster… once could practically get the whole story. Yup, the lead actor’s dead fiancee just wouldn’t move on… even after she passed away. Well, it is quite funny in a way.. but somewhat reminds me of the Ghost Whisperer. Count on Eva Longoria to do well.. why? Cos her role is somehow similar to her Desperate Housewife character. Of course… Jason Biggs add in alot of laughter and humour to the movie.

Hero Wanted!

Red Cliff (2008)

Rating:

Red Cliff (Part 1) official site: http://redcliff.meiah.com/

Ah… finally, after a long wait John Woo is back and this time a movie based on famous Chinese history during the Three Kingdom era. Yes, this movie basically focus on the Battle of Red Cliff. Of course it is a must to see since it is the most expensive Hong Kong movie to date. In comparison the The Ressurection of The Dragon, this is much better in terms of character development. I totally love the costume and setting, but then again… would be better if lessen the amount of pigeon scene. Kinda disappointed with the nothing special and fake opening while seriously disappointing and lame “to be continued” scene.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008)

Rating:

Journey to the Center of the Earth (3D) official site: http://www.journey3dmovie.com/

Yeay… actually this is the first 3D movie I saw in cinema. I heard a lot about the book (since I don’t like to read), so I seriously have a lot of expectations in the movie. Seriously, I am quite disappointed as the storyline is quite weak and to be honest with, the 3D isn’t really that great. Hemmm… what can I say, you practically visited the center of the earth if you have seen the trailers.

Wanted (2008)

Rating:

Wanted official site: http://www.wantedmovie.com/

The poster is pretty interesting and must I say… the tattoos definately create a lot of mystery and attention to the movie. This movie is one of those movie I would catergorize as STYLISH with a little twist… but predictable :). Seriously, after 5 minutes of watching… I knew the ending already but I definately give credit to the actors and actress cause it seriously is the only key element that saves the movie. Not forgetting the stunt masters.

Hancock (2008)

Rating:

Hancock official site: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/hancock/

Wooohooo… this seriously is one cool Will Smith movie. This time taking up a superhero character. He seriously fit the character perfectly. With the help of Charlize Theron… this definately one of the best superhero movie of the year. I love the small twist in between but somewhat still couldn’t figure how come Charlize Theron character turn out to feel like “Storm” from X-Men. And men, this movie seriously must get a lot of sponsorship cause the amount of verbal and physical branding is crazy!

Made to Dunk

The Bank Job (2008)

Rating:

The Bank Job official site: http://www.thebankjobmovie.com/

Woo… lightly promoted, or maybe it’s me who misses out most of the trailers in the cinema. The treatment and the retro like poster interested. Better still with the big highlight of the word “Royal Scandal” plus the big word BASED ON TRUE STORY. I would say this is a little different. Nicely put up together. They censored loads of scene and of course words. Hence after the cut, one could take sometime wonder what they missed out. The movie started of a little slow but ended up with a quite okay ending. Of course character development could be better. Then again… I still have major problem with the accent :(

Made of Honor (2008)

Rating:

Made of Honor official site: http://www.madeofhonor-movie.com/

Something light… something romantic yet laughable. Despite my high expectations for movies, I still love those movie that is so predictable but romantic. Yeah, after all, I’m a typical girl who believes in romantic and happy endings. Made of Honor is pretty good, in the sense of how people would always take the people around them for granted until they actually decided to move on. Yup, not everyone could have the best of both worlds I suppose. It’s super funny… especially the glow in the dark beads.

Kung Fu Dunk (2008)

Rating:

Kung Fu Dunk official site: http://www.emp.hk/kungfudunk/

Another movie riding on the success of Shaolin Soccer and Slam Dunk. Yeah, it is practically the same concept, except the fact that you change soccer to basketball. Jay Chow takes up the role as a great basketballer by nature. Doubt I need to mention much since the first two lines practically tells the whole story. I watch it cause there are two cute guys in the movie (excluding Jay). My advice? Watch if your idol acts in it.

Smart with Style

Get Smart (2008)

Rating:

Get Smart official site: http://getsmartmovie.warnerbros.com/

Haha… I can’t stop laughing when watching this show. Yup, a pure comedy, which I am really in need of.  Steve Carell definately step up to the role as geeky like analyist who dreams of be coming a secret agent. Anne Hathaway… hemm… something’s not really right about her. Just doesn’t think she fits the profile no matter how the storyline tells it. But seriously, that Japanese guy from the series “Heroes” definately steal the limelight of the show.

The Happening (2008)

Rating:

The Happening official site: http://www.thehappeningmovie.com/

M. Night Shyamalan and Mark Wahlberg, what can I say… I love both M’s. The best part, the poster is good enough to get me curious and wondering what this is all about. But I must admit, it really does have a cheesy tagline which they sorta compile from all M. night Shyamalan movies. I love M. Night Shyamalan movies because he really does tell a weird version of stories. Some we might not even think of and of course, most his movie carries this subtle message of everything happens for a reason. Best of all, there are scientific explanations to the supernatural activites and yet, there are room for you to wonder and think otherwise. Yes, of course you will see M. Night Shyamalan in the movie. He is after all the person who writes, directs and produces the movie.

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Rating:

The Incredible Hulk official site: http://incrediblehulk.marvel.com/

I didn’t actually see the first part cause I just never have faith in Ang Lee. Not that he is a bad director… but Marvel Comic and Ang Lee, they just don’t click at all. So yes, it proves my thinking right and it was a flop. Hence this time the new Incredible Hulk movie. The trailer sorta impress me but well, the movie. Haha… it really reminds me a lot about King Kong. How the Hulk swing around… how Liv Tyler actually tries to talk and calm the Hulk, how the Hulk tries to protect the girl. Yawn…. it’s almost like a remake of King Kong too… just replacing the main characters. Yes, it was action packed enough to wow everyone but for me… something just isn’t right and of course the storyline is quite bad. Now I understand why the movie promo uses Tony Stark (Iron Man) cameo appearance in the movie as a highlight.

Kung Fu Panda (2008)

Rating:

Kung Fu Panda official site: http://www.kungfupanda.com/

Awww… my favourite panda! How can I actually miss this out. Yes, welcome to the Chinese martial art world. The skills, the techniques… ah, I am really impressed with their research. Really! From the smallest details of how to hold a chopstick to the chinese cultures. Of course shows like this have a predictable ending, nevertheless… I think it is a movie that can make you laugh while appreciating the chinese culture. Hip Hip Panda!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Rating:

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crytal Skull official site: http://www.indianajones.com/

When I was young, I used to think Dr. Jones is cool! Seriously, it is one of the movie I enjoyed the most cause it is really adventerous and fun. The latest fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventure proves that good things should just be left it at it’s best. I have no idea what has gotten in to Steven Spielberg in this recent 10 years. And I could never believe how he have the heart to kill the Adventure King by ending it and mixing it all up with some UFO or alien stuff. It really is a big disappointment for me cause I really hate movies that when they are in the midst of not knowing to end the movie, they just bring in the aliens and it really is just an easy way out. But one thing, I really admire how they could still maintain the old and grainy feel from the past.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007)

Cate Blanchet… Clive Oven… ah… both powerful actors and definately my favourite actors. Not to mention acting in one of my favourite movie genre. I love to see movies that is based on real history. This time around, a movie about Queen Elizbeth I. The powerful trailer, the gorgeous costumes… ah nice settings. It is really interesting in how everyone have to be just very careful in their strategy planning. One can never know who will win in the end. It is definately interesting but yeap, one could also snore if history isn’t their favourite subject.

Mark Wahlberg, Joaquin Phoenix and the sexy Eva Mendes in an interesting cop and smuggler world. Yes, it is really interesting to see especially when one family where you have the cop and the other family member which is in the opposite side. When both comes face to face, what will happen? It’s ironic how things could turn up and what humans could sacrifice to protect their own family.

Playboy Cops (2008)

Wow… yet another Hong Kong movie which stars Shawn Yue. Yes, of course he is the main attraction, taking up a role of an un-popular  handsome and rich cop. He hates loosing and when he finds out his girlfriend broke up with him and was with another new cop… he goes crazy and tries to get her back. Of course in between, there is a serious case.. which wakes him up and teaches him a lesson he could never forget.

Simply Actors (2007)

Rating:

Simply Actor official site: -

Okay… another one of those Hong Kong comedy which hem…. bores me. Maybe because I didn’t like the male lead actor. He annoys me at times. Okay… to be honest, most of the time in this movie. It is somewhat funny, especially knowing the fact that the Hong Kong Police force wants their undercover police to have a better acting skills so that their identity is safer. As for Charlene.. hemm…. I don’t know, I just think the character doesn’t really fit her. She trying hard to be like a girl from China… I don’t know, she is just trying too hard… I think.

For a while, I am scared to go to the carpark alone. It is really scary… knowing that psycho can be employed as security guards. Not to mention, they just spy and peek and just stare at you. When the suddenly decides to attack… it’s like the biggest nightmare ever! I think it is a little B grade but hell, it does give me a good scare especially the part where the psycho actually beat the crap out of the guy who previously harrested the girl. Definately not a good watch if you are alone.

Romantic comedy that happens in the kitchen. Haha… lovely! Love and food seriously a great combination. It’s like watching Ratatoulie… of course the lead is now the hot Catherine Zeta Jones. Watching this shows makes me hungry and yes, think about career vs. relationship. Which one weigh more? Both maybe?

Forest of Death (2007)

What interest me to watch this movie? My friend Gigi told me it is based on some true stories. So yes, I can tell her now that the things she told me is not right and no… it is not even similar. In fact, this movie tells tale about how a reporter trying to resolve the mystery of the forest and what people who tries to commit suicide in the forest sees. Yes, many claim that they saw ghost. Ekin Cheng plays the role as the reporter’s boyfriend who thinks otherwise. He is a biologist who believes plants have their own feeling and thinking too… and he have been trying to communicate with them. So will his research ever help to uncover the forest mystery?

C+ Detective (2007)

A detective movie lead by Aaron Kwok that was shot in Thailand. I think it is really cool movie. I must say, it really is one of Aaron Kwok movies (based on what I have seen). A series of unfortune events happen after one drunk guy mysteriously asked Aaron Kwok to investigate on a missing woman. It seems everyone close to her died in a tragic yet mysterious ways. I like the cinematography and the treatment of the movie. It really does help enriched the movie.

Slit and Speed.

Speed Racer (2008)

Weee… kaleidoscope!!! I always wanted one, since young. I don’t know why, but I think it is a damn cool thing to have, and I am so happy they did adapt the effect to Speed Racer. I love their wild and vibrant colours. Let’s just say this movie is super cool! I must say, it interest me and non-stop attacts me with either it’s plots or the car racing. Not to mention… it’s RAIN-ing in the movie!

Iron Man (2008)

Iron Man official site: http://ironmanmovie.marvel.com/

Wow! wow! wow! If kung fu movies were ment to wow the westerners, consider superhero movies like this to wow me *jaws dropped*. I totally love the show… even though I barely know Iron Man. To be honest, I’ve only like heard of this superhero being mentioned like 10 times and glance thru the visual for maybe twice. But yes, I love how they make the movie. Keep the storyline tight and best of all, it’s not one of those movie that Marvel just make without any effort. Yes, I must say… it is one of the best superhero movie to date.

What Happens in Vegas (2008)

It’s been a while since I watch any romantic comedy from Ashton Kutcher. Not to mention, this time around… he is being partnered with Cameron Diaz. I like how this movie potrays what normally happens to people who get hooked up and married in Vegas. With loads of booze, casino and chapels. No wonder one can just get married in a blink of an eye. But what happens the next day? Worst is when your other half just strike the jackpot at the point you decided to call it a quit. Awww… this movie really just made my day… but I must say, Cameron definately could use loads of skincare.

The Slit-Mouthed Woman (2007)

The Slit-Mouthed Woman official site: -

Together with Forbidden Kingdom, this movie sink to the bottom of the list. First of all, it isn’t exactly a ghost horror movie. Yes, I understand that it is an urban legend… but most of the storyline was edited and it is way different from the original one. I don’t actually mind the difference, but this story… till today, I still can’t figure why would she have to run around killing childrens. Not to mention, she did not go around scaring kids with her famous “Am I beautiful?” question. Well, this Slit-Mouthed woman isn’t exactly looking for a revenge. Isn’t exactly killing for a reason. I have no particular idea why a ghost actually hides kids. Some she killed, some she just hurt them badly while some… she just do nothing with them. Looks more like a psycho child kidnapper than a horror movie.

The Adventurers.

Fool's Gold (2008)

Fool’s Gold official site: http://foolsgoldmovie.warnerbros.com/

Nothing better than nice scenery, treasure seeking, romantic comedy and puzzle solving added together. The title practically spills out alot about the movie. Yup, an adventure to seek sunken treasure in the sea. Of course one will also have a good laugh, especially looking at how a BIMBO actually behave. I must say Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey definately have a good chemistry as they both acted really naturally. Love the location and scenes. Okay… maybe I just love how they blend the adventure, puzzle solving, and treasure hunting together of course plus the nice environment.

The Forbidden Kingdom (2008)

Hemmm…. how do I exactly put this. THANK GOD someone gave me free tickets… or else… It’s not worth watching at all. Don’t even bother for a DVD/VCD/downloading. Just wait for the TV to show it. I couldn’t believe how Jackie Chan and Jet Li can agree to movie like this. Not to mention Yuen Woh Peng too. Yes, it has all the big names but totally weird. Some script and action just doesn’t make sense. Not to mention they practically mix all the chinese kung fu and style in one and have been fighting on and on for practically no reason. Practically just another movie to wow the westeners with all the asian kung fu.

Kaidan (2007)

Kaidan official site: http://www.kaidan-movie.jp/

Yes, I saw the review about this movie in a magazine. It looks quite interesting as it is one of those horror olden folktales during the Edo era in Japan. I must say the setting and the cinematography was cool and beautiful. I must say it really is a “beautiful” movie. But of course, there are a few scene which is quite disturbing, especially the ending scene. Some might find it a little boring, but I think it is quite okay… but towards the ending… it seems a little strange and doesn’t make sense. Yup, after watching the movie… one might practically wonder… how does the curse actually work in this movie. I gotta thank Ayumi Hamasaki… cause if she doesn’t sing the theme song… I guess I would have given this show a miss.

Nim's Island (2007)

Rating:

Nim’s Island official site: http://www.nimsisland.com/

Okay, one of those show which doesn’t really do much promotions. I must say it has quite a simple storyline. It has this beautiful opening which features the papercut concept. Really is a simple but beautifully done opening. The movie is like a combination of Indiana Jones and Blue Lagoon. I must say, there isn’t exactly any ups and downs in movie. It practically is one of those movie where you just go in… enjoy the story and scenery.
