Fun with Dick and Jane

Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)

Fun with Dick and Jane (2005) Jim Carrey is one of the well known comedian actor. I think most of his shows are funny and hilarious. Even though I love to watch comedies, sometimes Jim Carrey over reacted facial expression seriously kills the movie. But hey, from the trailer I am convinced that this is a cool show.

The movie resolves around Dick (Jim Carrey). He has a stable job, a beautiful wife name Jane (Tea Leoni), a cute son and well, a dog who loves to bark. Everything was going on fine with Dick, until one day, his company decided to promote him. I loved the scene where he is singing in the lift. The right song at the right situation!

He was quickly being sold out by his own company where his boss (Alec Baldwin) bancrupt the whole company. Dick, being the spokesperson was soon jobless. All his savings were all in the form of his company’s shares. The optimistic Dick thought everything is gonna be okay but.. well I guess life doesn’t always go our ways. Dick was jobless for months and their saving went from less to lesser to none.

They have to sell everything in their house. The best part, even their lawn was being taken back. It’s amazing. It looked like some carpet. Dick was in desperate need of help when he received a letter from the bank. Dick was asked to pay his house loans or his house would be mortgage.

In desperate moments like this, Dick and Jane decided to rob some stores. They soon get the hang of it and slowly gets everything back. It was hilarious and amazing! There were one scene which I can never forget. Dick and Jane went robbing the Japanese shop! Guess what, there were a few waiters, all of them were talking.. okay to be precise, mumbling some jap words but one of them (if I did hear properly) he said “Wa Lan Eh” which.. erm… I think is not Japanese. Hahaha…

One day, Dick and Jane decided to rob a bank and was almost caught and learnt that what they were doing was completely out of their mind. Dick in the meantime was angry when he saw that his boss was still living in luxury by living with all the money he took away from the company. Dick decided to take it back. Well, it’s a happy ending comedy~ So yeah… he surely did manage to get back what he wants.

I love this movie. It’s simply hilarious without the over-expression by Jim Carrey. The electric dog collar was also a funny element. However I was rather upset that there were lots of scene being cut. Yeah.. lots of scene in the making and the trailer just wasn’t in the movie

Time to get the un-censored version and laugh!

What Kind of Seducer Am I?
Your Seduction Style: Sweet Talker

Your seduction technique can be summed up with “charm”
You know that if you have the chance to talk to someone…
Well, you won’t be talking for long! ;-)

You’re great at telling potential lovers what they want to hear.
Partially, because you’re a great reflective listener and good at complementing.

The other part of your formula? Focusing your conversation completely on the other person.

Your “sweet talking” ways have taken you far in romance - and in life.
You can finess your way through any difficult situation, with a smile on your face.

Speeding tickets, job interviews… bring it on! You truly live a *charmed life*

woo… now that I know I am a sweet talker… I gonna sweet talk everyone. But hey! how come people always say I talk rubbish when it says here that I am great at telling them what they want to hear. But then again, maybe the wanted to listen to rubbish.

So do you feel complimented when talking to me? hehehe… yeah… great news to hear… I lead a *charmed life*.

Tiramisu @ Alexis Bistro and Wine Bar.

Tiramisu @ Alexis Bistro and Wine Bar
Tiramisu @ Alexis Bistro and Wine Bar
Tiramisu @ Alexis Bistro and Wine Bar

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 4 January 2006.

Ever since the cake conversation on Monday, this tiramisu thing has been clinging on my head. Yeah, I was thinking up and down… dreaming and imagining all about cakes. Yeah, Gigi told me how nice and special the tiramisu at Alexis is.

Well I kinda trusted her taste, coz when she says it’s good… it’s normally good. What’s even better, lots of people say it’s good, thus I decided to give it a try. What got me more motivated? Yeah… I watched this movie quite some time a while.. ermmmm I still remember I watched it in 2001. This show call “Tiramisu” by Nicholas Tse and Karena Lam. It was a romance movie. Yeah, in this movie it says.. when you eat tiramisu, you will have this “first love” kinda feel.

Okay… I gotta try this. I wonder if I will have that feel. Mmmm.. this is interesting . “First Love” hahaha… Maybe everyone of you should try this and tell me if you can find this feel while eating tiramisu.

Me and Gigi head down to the Alexis at Great Eastern Mall. It was quite a large and spacious place compare to the one in Bangsar. We stepped in and quickly place our order. Yes, tiramisu is a must. We wanna feel our “First Love”. We didn’t have our main course as Gigi took dinner at home while I had late lunch. Thus we both order a slice of cake and drinks. I ordered a slice of tiramisu while Gigi ordered Chocolate Walnut cake to share.

Our food was being served quickly and I saw the cakes. Okay… the grass is always greener on the other side. The Chocolate Walnut cake looks so much nicer. Yes.. warm cake with ice-cream. Hello… what can be better than warm cake with ice-cream . *Okay, focus girl.. focus… “first love”, yeah “first love”.*

I wasn’t happy with the cake when the cake wasn’t at it’s perfect shape when it arrived. The tiramisu seems to be sliding down. It’s as if it’s melting and I dunno, when I am eating cakes at places like this, I expect to see my cake come in a perfect form. A proper and neat piece.

I can’t wait and I quickly dive in to the tiramisu. Oooookay. It was not what I expect it to be. The feeling I mean. As for the taste, it’s quite good compare to other places ones. What made them special, the additional nuts glazed with honey on the outer side of the cake . It adds in this special kick to the cake. Yes, soft and smooth in the middle but crunchy and sweet on the outside. It’s quite good. But the feeling… no where near “first love”, as a matter of fact, it brings in this strong sense of bitterness and sadness in each bite. Maybe it’s my expectations to the cake. I have no idea. I just felt it didn’t give me that feel… then only I remember, in the show, you will only get the “first love” feel if you eat the cake together with your loved ones.

So that explains everything. Hahaha… so I gotta wait till I have a loved ones to share it with me to feel the “first love” feel.

As for my personal opinion, I prefer the Chocolate Walnut cake to the tiramisu. Yeah, I love warm cakes more. Well, what’s better than a cake with loads of walnut. Yup, lots of it. I can feel and taste it. Best of all, it’s being served warm and with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It just felt like heaven. If you ask me…. I have more of the “first love” feel while eating this cake than the tiramisu. Guess everyone just have different preferences.

Fearless.

Fearless (2006)Fearless (2006)Fearless (2006)

Fearless (2006)A lot of disturbing remarks and overload of information is buzzing around me. It’s been said to be Jet Li’s last martial art movie. Yes, it seems like he wants to end his martial art career and venture into something else. There were even news that the originally 143 minutes movie was cut to 103 minutes to fit the market. Yes, good 40 minutes being cut here and there.

A story set back in early 1900’s where China was invaded by western powers and the Japanese power is constantly growing in China. China is known as the “Asia’s weakest country”.

In this movie, Jet Li portrays the life of a martial art master Huo Yuen Jia (Huo). In his younger days, Huo was a weak child where asthma constantly strikes him. His dad, a great martial art master refuses to teach him martial arts due to his health condition. Huo secretly hide and peek at his dad each time his dad is practicing. One day, some guy challenged Huo’s dad. Supposedly Huo’s dad could win if he continues to attack, however he never did so which results him to lose. Huo was then upset and determine to learn martial arts to revenge.

*spoiler alert* Okay, I didn’t know how, who or when did Huo learnt his martial art skills. Yeah.. there were no indication of how, who and when did he learn it from. The movie just cut and jumps to where Huo has grown up, even have a daughter. At that point of time, all that matters to him is to be “TianJin No. 1”. He constantly challenges everyone to prove that he is the best of the best. Everything went on fine until one day, he killed someone in the challenge due to a misunderstanding. This challenge has caused him his families life. What is worst is when he found out the truth behind what had happen.

Huo then travel around and finally tries to drown himself. However, a blind girl and her grandma saved him. Huo then stays there and slowly learns and adapt to their culture. There, Huo also learns to be more patient and learnt that winning is not everything. He soon leaves the village and decided to travel back to where he belong only to find that everything has changed.

The place he used to live in was a big mess, the town was being invaded by westerners. Drugs, opium and westerners were seen everywhere. He finally knows that going around picking for fights is not the right thing to do and he decided to fight for the nation. *Yeay! Way to go Jet~*

The movie then zoom back to the starting scene where Huo is fighting against 4 foreigners. I like the ending. As in, it softly portrays how Chinese strikes back to prove to the world we are not “Asia’s weakest country”. I like how they hint how the Japanese was being used to fight against own Asian countries.

As a whole, I think it has a great package. Great Jet Li as the lead, room for lots of stunts to happen, attention to details (especially the sword fighting scene where the knives got blunted). Yeah what can I say, action to the MAX! But I must say there are lack of development in the storyline. I dun blame them, 40 minutes of the show gone down the drain.

Sorry

Madonna - Sorry

Ah… finally… madonna. Yes, I guess I really salute and respect her. Ever changing look and feel, seems like she has been aging very well. Beautiful eyes. Beautiful images. Hemm…

Totally love this song. Yeah, I guess this is the best song in the album. Good lyrics I must admit. Seriously, how many times one person walk up to you and say “I’m sorry” and all you ever felt like saying is “I don’t want to hear… I don’t want to know.. or whatever?”

I dunno to me it does happen. Does it help when you really hurt someone and was hoping that one sorry word can mend everything?

Yes, I agree. Save your words. Don’t explain yourself coz talk is cheap. There’s more important things than hear you speak.

80’s Babies.

One of my friend send me this article which brings back lots of memories to me. At times when I think back, when we are kids, we wish we could grow up faster, but when we are grown ups we wish were kids. Hemmm… isn’t it ironic?

For your reading pleasure…some might be true. Hope you will all enjoy reading it. This might bring you back the old memory especially during those school days…..

Signs that you are a 80s’ baby:
You grew up watching G-Force, He-man, Transformers, Thundercats, Silver Hawk, Woody Woodpecker, Chipmunks and Mickey Mouse. Not to forget Ninja Turtles, Mask, Smurfs and Voltron too.

Girls watched Japanese cartoon like My Little Pony, “Xiao Tian Tian”, “Hua Xian Zi” etc.

You grew up brushing your teeth with a mug in primary school after recess time.

You squatted by a drain with all your classmates beside you, and brushed your teeth with a colo urful mug.

Remember the days when the school nurse, comes with a list for the dentist appointment, the sound of the drilling when your friend has a fill in his tooth.

You remember the packets of milk we get in primary school to encourage us to drink more milk. (It is only cost 30 cent per pack)

In secondary school, girls go to the library to borrow their favourite romance storybook.

In secondary school, girls altered their school skirt to shorten it and guys will go to the school appointed school uniform tailor shop to tailor make their school trousers to the then fashionable “baggy pants”!

During primary school days, the teacher will punish you using a ruler to hit your palm.

A bowl of noodles soup cost only 30cent in primary school days.

When you were in primary school, girls like to go to the bookshop to buy cute stuff such as animal erasers, various shape sharpeners, colourful notebook etc.

Hankyu Jaya, Yaohan departmental stores used to be a favourite hangout for families dur! ing weekends.

In secondary school days, you buy the Bata BM Turbo or Pallas Jazz school shoes. Some guys like to wear those china made ankle high shoes. Some even like to wear those very thick socks with their school shoes.

Internet? E-mail? What the hell is that?

So you thought a decade or more ago, your friends don’t have pagers or handphones in school.

CDs? What’s that? Cassette tapes were the norm. Movie tickets used to cost less than $5 last time.

The goodies from Mama shop used to be Chickerdis, Mamee , Kum Kum, UFO, O-Ya, Ding Dang chocolate balls with toys in the box, colourful hard “egg”, “cigerette” bubble gum, KIKI Bubble Gum, pink bottle of bubbles c/w a small tubes with yellow sticks to blow “more lasting” bubbles that you can pop more air in or slam it on.

You never forget ‘Ti Kam’. When exams are over, the board games (e.g Monopoly, Donkey, Transportation Comparison Card) & held ! video games will be all over the class room.

Your favourite sound is the bell! For it’s the homemade ice cream man. The cream that tops Haagan Dazs!

And the other peddler you love is the old lady who sells juicy Muah Chee and thick olden syrup rolled in a balloon the tip of a chopstick stick.

Another bell is the recess bell, a time to get away from school work and to eat.

Another time when there is no bell but all guys will anxiously wait for it…The PJ (Pendidikan Jasmani), PE time (time for football)

Your favourite childhood games were playing “gu li”(marbles), five stones, five bottle cover, zero-point, catching, “Pepsi-Cola one two three” and/or “Police & Sentry”!

The best thirst quencher of all times is the yummy colourful ice tubes you can buy from provision shops for only 10 cent. To eat them, break the tab and suck while holding the freezing tube!

All gals have a girl doll/strawberry shortcake/my little pony/pound puppy, while all boys have a soldiers figurine (combat) or a rubber band catapult that shoots folded paper!

Once was the era whereby ice-cream sticks were valueable items, then came the paper aircrafts, chalk fights.

Some boys made their own guns from wood, and used ‘Bacali’ as the bullets.

Some even used matches to shoot and burn kids’lanterns during MoonCake Festival.

And your favourite holiday was Lunar New Year! New clothes, Ang Pows, shopping, junk food and family outings!

Let’s see, the majority of students in universities today were born in 1987 / 88…. They are called “youth”.

For them, they have never heard of the song “We are the World, we are the Children…” And the “Uptown Girl” they know is by ‘West Life’ but not ‘Billy Joel’.

For them, there have always been only one Germany and only one Vietnam. AIDS exists since they were born.

CD exists since they were born.

Michael Jackson is already whitened.

John Travolta is always round in shape and they can’t imagine how this fat guy could be a god of dance.

They believe that Spiderman and Incredible Hulk are just new films.

They can never imagine a black and white screen for a computer.

They never know what is Atari or ‘Game & Watch’.

They can’t believe a black and white television ever existed and they don’t even know how to switch on a TV without a remote control.

And they never understand how we can go out without a mobile phone when we were in university…

Let’s check if we’re getting old…

1. You understand what was written above and you smile.

2. Most of your secondary school friends are getting married.

3. You are always surprised to see small children playing comfortably with computer.

4. When you see teenagers with mobile phones, you shake your head.

5. You spend less and less time talking on phone with your friends daily.

6. When you meet your old friends from time to time, talking about the good old days, repeating again and again all funny stories you experienced together.

7. Lastly, having read this mail, you are thinking of forwarding it to some other old friends. You think they will like it too…..

Hahaha!…. Yes! We are getting old too………..

Brings back old memories huh?

Cheers to the 80s babies!!!

Day Out @ Sunway.

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 2 January 2006.Wooo… serious planning has been done weeks ahead. Okay… not serious.. erm.. We’ve done lots of serious talking but no action plan about this day out. But then again it was a almost canceled plan since lots of people can’t make it. No idea why, I just felt the elder we grew, the lesser time we could spend or we would choose to spend with friends.

Yes, me.. always staying the opposite end with most people believe it’s now or never. We’re growing older, and I believe our experience, friends, knowledge and belly should grow bigger and broader. But at times is really saddening and depressing, especially people you would want to hang out with just wasn’t bothered or either plain lazy. And when shit things happen, they will come running to you, hoping you spend precious times supporting, talking and advising them.

You know, like there is this Chinese saying “There is no such thing as FREE lunch in this world.” Communication and friendship works both ways. If you have no time to spend you precious time gathering and bonding friendships, then never expect it the other way round when you are in deep shit.

*argh…. I am straying away from my happy outing again*

I woke up early… hehe.. well not really early.. 10.30am. I love to think of it as I am early coz, it’s a HOLIDAY~ and well.. the fact that Gigi says she’s coming to pick me up at 12 makes me feel 10.30am is early. Woke up, bath and getting ready and yet I’m still early. *hip hip hooray*

Hahaha… I’m expecting Gigi to be late. Erm, she messaged me 6am that morning itself that means she barely have 6 hours of sleep. Hemmm… she wasn’t that late, she reached around 12.45pm and we straight head back to her home. Hem.. yeah Brian is already there when we arrived. Apparently he and Gigi has set the time to meet at 1pm. Haha.. opss, I wasn’t involved in the time management so.. they both kept arguing about the “late” factor.

Day Out @ Sunway: Puchong Yong Tau Fu

As for me… I am pretty busy thinking of food . Yeay… Yong Taufu (Vegetables or Tofu stuffed wit fish paste). Haha… Brian and me have been talking about this plan for a long long time. God knows why we suddenly talk about Yong Taufu when he suddenly says.. “Ah, I know a good place that sells great Yong Taufu.” *eyes rolled up and blink blink* “You serious?” Brian was like so confident “Yeah, serious. Got one place in puchong. They make them on the spot and fry it.” I was stunned . *saliva dripping and eyes still wide open*

Hehe… I can hear them still arguing over matter on the front… but I can’t hear what exactly they were talking about as my mind was floating around aimlessly. We soon reach this shop called “Puchong Yong Taufu”. Hemm… seriously it’s quite packed but we manage to find seats. Wooohooo… Gigi was left behind to book the seats while Brian and me went to grab food.

Everything we took was raw and un-stuffed. Okay… what I saw on the Yahoo screen chat with Brian sounds convincing now. Haha… We picked loads of stuff. Gigi who initially said she only wanted 4 pieces… hahaha… didn’t end up having more than 4 piece. Yup, obviously she has to eat more… coz I over ordered . Don’t blame me. As a food person, everything looks tasty and good to eat. I would say eat more, eat more!

Day Out @ Sunway: Pool at Sunway Atrium

Okay… we then headed to Sunway Pyramid for our next round. We went and book tickets for movies. Yes, first things first… queue up to get tics for Wallace and Gromit then head down to Sunway atrium and lepak there. Well… it has this nice and ermmm many designer chairs and deco stuff and all, however I always think their designer who design the display for Sunway was rather disappointing. They just can’t fix with one style. They will have this mixed stuff mixed up in the wrong way. The place was suppose to be quite a quiet place for you to play pool, have a drink and chit chat but hey.. loads of people were walking behind us. Seriously loads of people. I would say an average of 20 people walk by us every 1 minute.

That just makes me feel it’s not a serious quiet place to hang out. I can feel that when I am talking to a friend, someone might just suddenly stick their head in the middle and interrupt our conversation. But hey, I guess it would be a better place at night as less people will be walking around.

Jon and Angeline came pretty soon after that. Yup, we were all busy playing pool while waiting for our movie. We’ve loads of fun.. yeah.. I guess everyone have fun except for Brian. Hahaha… kena boycott. See.. that is the point, never tells a woman she is “farn” especially when the person’s name is Gigi Fong. You will die very cruelly. Angeline had to leave as she has a date with her boyfriend and the four of us continue to head down to Haagen Daz. Yeah, Brian supposedly owe Gigi strawberry ice cream (I have no clue for what reason) so everyone decided to head down to the ice cream parlor. When we reached, Jon offered to treat everyone of us ice cream. *Aw… Jon, you’re just so sweet*

Day Out @ Sunway: Haagen Dazs Ice Cream Break

I had “Belgium Chocolate”, yummy, just so rich with chocolate. Gigi.. hahaha.. never changing and constantly very persistent with her strawberry Haagen Daz. So guess what Brian, you still owe Gigi Haagen Daz. *don’t say I never hint you* We then just straight rush to the cinema as we are a little late. Luckily for the trailer’s session, or else we would have missed the opening a little.

Ah… dinner was already planned before hand. Okay, I like it… I won’t have to bother where to dine while I can still try new places. Well I am too sick of explaining it why again since I have explained it before. Jon and Brian were already tempting us with this place called “Mantra” when we were playing pool. They told us the ambient is cool, they have Live Band and best of all, the food is great there. It sounds like heaven to me. Best of the best with everything in it. It’s worth a try.

Day Out @ Sunway: Dinner at Mantra

As I walked in, we picked a sit that has water flowing right behind us. I like that feel. Yup.. the Chinese believes places with water continues running means “lasting forever”. Yup in chinese it says “sai sui cheong lau”. But the place is rather bright than what I imagined it to be. Yup… Coz the word Live Band struck me, so I was assuming it’s a not so bright place with small candles on the table. Yes.. you can hardly see what you’re eating and you can hardly see your friends sorta feel thing.

Okay.. it was pretty sad that they didn’t have Live Band on Tuesdays . If I am not mistaken, The Live Band only comes is on the Fridays and the weekends. Guess I’ll have to drop by one weekend to check their Live Band out.

Food eh… ermmm okay, it’s some fusion Indian food. The food there was good. Ermm… well I’ve tried the Butter Chicken (nope, it’s not those Chinese cooking style). It’s actually some form of curry chicken with extra buttery taste to it. I would say not bad… quite appertizing . We then chit chat a little. Yeah… not much time to chat a lot since the shop is closing early. Yeah we forgot it’s Tuesday!

Brian sent me and Gigi to Gigi’s house. Me and Gigi then decided that it’s still early, thus both of us went for mamak and lepak. Yup, it’s only 11++ and I just think it’s rather early to wrap up the night. We lepak in the mamak and chit chatted till around 2am. Haha… yeah.. we have loads to talk about. Don’t ask me what we talk about. It’s a girl’s thing. You’ll have to be a girl and be crazy enough to know and understand.

Love yourself.

Happy Valentine's Day

*Blink blink* It seems like just yesterday, okay… I maybe not yesterday… few months ago. It’s valentine’s day. Everybody is busy celebrating. Buying flowers, chocolates, soft toy and some are still thinking what to buy. As every years routine are the same. I dunno is it just me or everyone face this problem.

People will come message me, “So which lucky guy manage to date you tonight?” When I say I am not going out with any guy, the first question is “How come? You are pretty what. How come no one date you?”

Well, when I was at my younger age, I used to be thinking what I would do in Valentine’s Day. I went out on dates. It felt weird. Seriously. I dunno what I was doing. Dinner was super expensive, packed and the service is bad. There weren’t any special feeling. It was just so wrong. Well, yes gifts obviously does add a smile to the face but was I really happy?

Everyone assumed when they got a date on Valentine’s Day they should be happy. To me, it’s like going to prom with a partner. If you get a partner you want to go with obviously no matter how crappy the prom is, it still is fun. But if you just pick and go with anyone else, you are just plain killing time.

When I say I don’t have a date. The first thing everyone around me says “You are too picky.” Well, if you consider finding someone who loves me for who I am picky, then yes, I AM PICKY. If you are one of those who hopes that I go out with any and every guys who comes up to me picky, then yes, I AM PICKY. It’s my future. Everyone wants the best for their future. So don’t point fingers at me saying I AM PICKY.

I just wish everyone’s happy on this lovey dovey day even you have a date or not. Just be yourself. Enjoy it like it’s every other day. Well.. come to think of it… if they do love you.. every day is Valentine’s Day. If they only pamper you during Valentine’s Day… I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel already.

Happy Valentine’s Day~
