es·car·got – An edible snail, especially one prepared as an appetizer or entrée.
Last night I grabbed dinner at Victoria’s Station in Damansara and finally tried escargot.
I’ve always wondered what it tasted like and finally gathered the courage to try it!
Eating snails sounded pretty weird, but hey, I figured I’d go for it.
Surprisingly, it isn’t as strange or intimidating as I thought.
Personally, I find it easier and tastier than eating “balitong,” which requires skill and a lot of time just to extract the meat.
Something I don’t find worth the effort.
When it comes to escargot, the meat’s usually a dark brown or almost black.
It’s pretty chewy—kind of like abalone or razor clams.
People usually cook escargot with lots of garlic and mint, probably to cover up any strong flavors from the snail.
If you’re not into garlic or bold, strong sauces, this dish might not be your thing.
