Lately, there’s been plenty of conversation happening, especially at wedding dinners.
People drank and got drunk, then chatted about things outside their usual routines.
They tend to ask each other how things have been and what everyone is doing for work these days.
And, of course, the classic question always comes up: “When is it your turn to get married?”
I appreciate my friends’ concern, but sometimes it feels overwhelming.
Haha… yes, and unfortunately Gigi and I were interrogated by “Doctor Love” as though being single was some kind of crime deserving punishment in a dungeon, never to see sunlight again. Let’s be honest, not everyone is fortunate enough to be loved or blessed with such luck.
Dr. Love: What are you waiting for?
Me: (stunned) waiting for what?
Dr. Love: What are you waiting for???
Me: go home lah
Dr. Love: No, what are you two waiting for?
Me and Gigi: *silent*
Dr. Love: There are many good guys out there. Don’t be so picky.
Me: Good guys? Who?? Tell me.
Dr. Love: *silent*
Me: Tell me lah~ Who? You say many? Name me one.
Dr. Love: *silent* “A” is good.
Me and Gigi: *laughing non-stop*
Me: You really think “A” is good?
Dr. Love: *silent and stunned* You din go out with him how you know he is not?
Me: We all got go out yum char what!
Dr. Love: Ya… with everyone. Not one to one.
Me and Gigi: *evil laugh again*
Out of nowhere, “Doctor Love” decided to find me a boyfriend, pulling any man he spotted and making a determined effort to introduce us.
Oh my goodness! I wish I could find somewhere to hide. I can’t shake off the feeling of embarrassment in public, but I understand and forgive him since he was drunk.
What truly puzzles me is that he’s trying to set me up with some random guy he hardly knows.
He can’t even remember his name and keeps mixing them up, yet still insists that this person is good. Hello! Knock! Knock! Wake up.
If you’re reading this, Doctor Love, stop acting like you have all the answers about girls and relationships. It’s far more complex than you realize.
Honestly, what am I waiting for?
I’m just waiting to grow old and eventually die.
And Doctor Love, please stop trying to set me and Gigi up with boyfriends just because you’ve found love yourself.
And you’re absolutely right.
I’m unique, because I’ve experienced far more than you might realise.
