It came as a surprise that Jae Sern and Eling is leaving XM.
It’s sad to see colleagues I once enjoyed working with leave one after another. I suppose that’s just how life goes, everyone takes their own path and moves forward. Still, I’m grateful that our paths intersected when they did.
I was invited to Jae Sern and Eling’s farewell dinner at TGIF, with plans to continue the night at Nouvo. Although I couldn’t attend the dinner, I made sure to join everyone for drinks later that evening. This was also one of the final opportunities for all the XM-ers to gather together.
Here’s a brief introduction to both of them. My experience meeting Jae Sern was memorable. On my first day at work, I was asked to sit at his desk since he was on holiday and my computer hadn’t been set up yet.
That day was also my first encounter with be@rbricks. He had a bunch of them on his table, and I was really tempted to kidnap all his Be@rbricks. The next day, when he got to the office, he made a scene and accused me of taking his chair behind his back! But it wasn’t my fault. They gave me that chair and told me to sit there.
Things didn’t start well between us, and they never improved. He always seemed arrogant and rarely spoke to me except to “kutuk” me. The comment that pushed me to work harder was when he said, “You took a whole day to create a button? I could do it in an hour,” then left without another word. Although I was frustrated and felt like beating him up at first, I later discovered he’s actually friendly and often gives helpful creative advice.
You’re the best pal jaebot! 😆
Although Eling and I have been colleagues for over two years, we rarely spoke, likely due to being in different departments and not sharing projects. I still hope our paths cross again someday.

When I got to the party, everyone was drinking and socializing. I hugged Jaebot and Eling as we all joined the ex-XMer group. People were busy catching up, taking photos, and enjoying drinks. The standard XM party style.
I’m going to miss all the parties, drinks, and farewell gatherings. These occasions bring everyone together, giving us a chance to reconnect and chat. Still, I’m not going to give up. We should catch up more frequently, not just at farewell parties!

All the best Jaebot and Eling! 😘
Jaebot, get familiar with NZ soon. Let’s meet there after visiting Jimbo in Australia! It’ll be a great holiday and catch up session.
