Backdated post. Actual event took place on 26 June 2006. Yet another company lunch. So much fun, so much food… *burp*. Haha, it is Zul’s birthday. So yes, we jump right downstairs and had lunch. This time around, we decided to go another place at the hotel. We dine at Still Waters. Still Waters provides a contemporary dining experience with strong Japanese presence known as ‘Sosaku’ cuisine, which means creative cooking. Yup there is a lot of fusion thing going on around this place. The exotic Japanese cuisine is fused with European and Asian flavours. I like the surrounding with lots of japanese sake bottle. The calligraphy on the bottle looks beautiful and colourful. The ambience is so beautiful with ropes and lighting. Looks so nice. Too bad Adrian have to meet a client and can’t make it to join us. Prem ordered the Grilled Lamb. It looks good with this fusion taste to it. It has got this japanese sauce with the western feel. Loh ordered the Chicken Terriyaki which have a very good presentation. I didn’t try what he had as my food arrived and.. yeay.. so many things to eat, don’t know where to start first. Mine, azli and zul’s was the set lunch. Woo… What can I say.. it’s really filling. Yummie.. waiting to celebrate the next person in the office’s birthday. Still Waters at Hotel Maya email: info@hotelmaya.com.my |

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 19 June 2006. Haha.. the day after I return from my Cameron trip, my office decided to go have lunch buffet at Hotel Maya. Yeah, that’s the closest place ever to my office. Some may ask what’s the occassion. It’s actually a welcome lunch for Zul. Yeah, he is the new designer. Yes, another addition to the Flare family member. Which still make me the only girl in the office. Well, supposedly Zul has join us for like a month or so… maybe two. Yeah, so it is sorta like a delayed lunch thing. Hehe.. well which is also an excuse for us to try out their new theme. This time around it’s the Chinese like theme. Most of the stuff were cook in chinese style. We’ve got shark’s fin soup, kam heong prawns, stir fry vege with mushrooms, mussels, stir fry beef and loads more. Prem was complaining why the sashimi’s were still there since they change the theme. But well, I guess it’s always been there. No matter how the theme changes.. they surely have it there, but unlike previous round, they didn’t have fresh oyster this time, instead… it’s been replaced with some kinda “la la”. Well… what can I say, “welcome to the family” (yeay.. another guy for me to bully) *evil grin* Maya Brasserie at Hotel Maya email: info@hotelmaya.com.my |

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 18 June 2006. Woohoo… the tour finale. We’ve come to the end of the Cameron Highlands trip where we all decided to go to the BOH Tea Centre at Sungei Palas. According to many, it’s a must go place. Yes, it was newly refurbished and it looks great now! We were half way going to Sungei Palas following the narrow and winding road. When suddenly Gigi say she wants to stop over and take picture. Yeah, according to her, that’s a special spot where she took her previous Cameron Highlands picture. So she wanted a picture at the same spot this time. Obviously taking picture is not a problem, since everyone is ever willing to do so! But trust me… going through thick bushes, the tall grass and insects here and there… it’s sorta scary. I dunno.. for me, it have this after visit feel. Like the insects are still crawling on your skin even after like 2 hours.
The moment we reached, Jon parked his car and we have to actually walk up to the tea centre. Not a lot of walking. Just a tiny hill. Angeline and Brian dared each other to run up. So yeah, this miss out some photo sessions while me, gigi and jon slowly walk around enjoying the scene and snapping pictures. That instant I set foot on the top.. it felts just so great and different from the last time I came.. which practically is 5 years ago.. erm.. maybe 6 years.
We ordered lots of stuff to share around. Tea and coffee for everyone, cakes, curry puff, apple pie and the price is ridiculously low. It’s almost half of what we pay for at Starbucks or Coffee Bean. I am serious, It would have cost like RM100 bucks if that is what we order in cafes in KL.. but we actually spent less than RM50 for everything on the table.
Yeah, we all had fun. We took lots of pictures that will make us laugh when we flip back and see it over and over again. Not to mention the funny moments we have. That’s right, that is what you get when you mix all different type of people together! Till the next trip, I would have to say. From Cameron, With Love! Other Cameron post: |

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 18 June 2006. Wah… it was such a refeshing sleep. Snore… snore… and more snore. The moment I wake up, I can hear the others making noise. The guys got up and get ready first as they are the nearest to the toilet. They then ordered breakfast for everybody. Mmm… good old American breakfast. It comes with 2 sunny side up, toasted bread, sausages, hashbrown, tomatoes, mushrooms and baked beans. Not to even mention orange juice and coffee. It was sorta filling when everything adds up. But what I actually like is the environment I have my breakfast. A small table under the big umbrella, in a lovely garden with lots of greens, cold breeze.. ah.. it all just makes a perfect combo. 🎉Time to celebrate again!🎉
A special salute and tribute to my greatest idol, Andy Lau!
🎂 Happy Birthday Andy!
Time for me to sneak out, get a small piece of cake and celebrate.
It’s quite a norm for me to eat a slice of cake for the day.
Yes, in a way a cheat day for me as well.
[Click here] to see last year’s post.
The same wish all over again, every year just to wish that he stays happy and healthy.
Heard he has been troubled by sickness and the tabloids just wouldn’t let him go!
I’m happy to hear that he will be spending his birthday with his family and close friends.
It’s interesting how as we all grow up, wishes and celebrations can be that simple.
He said if he can play bowling with his friends he would be very happy.
So yeah.. bowling 🎳 anyone?
HAPPY 45TH BIRTHDAY ANDY!

My sister recommended us this Bak Kut Teh place.
According to her, the Bak Kut Teh here is special and different from what we normally have and we are dying to find out.
To save time, we pick up Jason and head straight to Restoran Se Hua Bak Kut Teh.
We left the ordering to Jason and my sis since they know this place better than us.
Come early, else risk to wait for like hours before you get a seat.
My sister ordered their signature Pork Ribs Bak Kut Teh, which actually comes in clear soup rather than the normal dark brown-ish Bak Kut Teh soup.
And I must agree, it tasted a little different with it being milder yet flavourful.
Aside from the colour and the thicker consistency, I also find it sweeter.
Since we ordered pork ribs as the meat base, it is less fat and more meat.
If there is anything to complain, it would be the preparation time as each dish needs around 30 mins to prepare.
If you are super hungry, I would suggest you to order other sides or food while you wait for the Bak Kut Teh.
Aside their signature Bak Kut Teh, we ordered other dishes like Pork Stomach in Black Pepper Soup, Steam Fish Head with Ginger Sauce and Lettuce with Oyster Sauce to balance our meaty meal.
While the steam fish is covered with loads of ginger sauce, it was disappointing as the cook time was off and the fish texture was odd. The good side, at least the owner own up to their mistake and came apologizing before we even make a complain.
He also mentioned that their fridge was having some problem which resulted in lowering the quality of the steam fish.
And because of that, he gave us a discount 😉. How sweet!

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 June 2006. *blink blink* I am awake now and we are all set to eat. Brian suggested this place where it’s been describing how cool and fun it would be eating steamboat there. Yeah, we have been listening of how delicious, how yummy it is since like few months back. Finally we are there. We can’t wait, our noisy stomach just can’t shut up and make noise. The boys drove us to the Water Crest Valley. It’s really a cool place to dine. We were actually surrounded by farms. Yeah… loads of vegetables around us. According to Brian, the owner actually owns the farm and all the vegetables we are eating are fresh from the farm. Not to mention, we get free flow of veges for our steamboat. Yeah, eat all you want vege. So if you are on a diet or you are a vegeterian… that’s just great news. The place is rather cold compare to other stuffy shops as it’s open air concept where you can see everything beside and around you.
After choosing the ingrediants we gotta wait for sometime for them to heat up the Charcoal Steamboat. In the mean time, each of us ordered their signature drink (water crest with red dates). Gigi and Angeline couldn’t coup with the taste so they both ordered a pot of tea. The steamboat finally came and I must say the soup is impressive. Very very good. It’s full of beans and herbs and it tasted just so sweet even before adding anything in to it. When the pot just touch down, we can’t help but to pour everything in. Woohoo… munch munch munch.. non stop munch munch munch.. until everyone sit down and burp. Ah.. it was a fun dinner. Feeling cool each time the wind blows at us but warm each time we drink the warm soup. Ah… mixed feelings. We then continue to walk to the night market at Brinchang. Too bad my camera phone is not good enough to shoot pictures in dark conditions.. or else… more post to come. After the short walk, we headed back to the chalet, sit down outside and chit chat until we all were so tired and decided to jump to our bed and sleep! Address: Other Cameron post: |

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 June 2006. Too many pictures… too many stuffs being done in such a short time. Right… where were we, yeah… ermm right from Kea Farm, we move on to tea. Right… what is better than a cup of hot tea in Cameron. They are famous for their tea. Yes, and it’s dirt cheap compare to the tea you drink anywhere else in Malaysia. I never know where exactly I am… cause everywhere looks almost the same. Yeah… green here, green there… hill here… hill there… winding roads everywhere. The moment the engine stop, I saw this big big stretch of tea plantation right in front of me. There is a small little brick house which says “Cameron Bharat Plantations Sdn Bhd”. Yes, this is the place we stop for tea. Where else better than a tea plantation. Jon and Brian’s task were to buy drinks and munchies while us (the three little girls) run upstairs to get a good seat. Ah… under the covers, cold and windy place… I almost want to fall asleep. Obviously when the boys come back, our camera’s start working. Everyone is busy snapping pictures and have silly talks munching on cookies, curry puffs and drinking tea… while looking at more tea. We then decided to jump in to the plantation and snap more pictures. Yes lots and lots more pictures.
What exactly did we go through? Well… lots of grass… insects.. yeah, mosquito bites and not to mention the tall grass… ermmm should I call it grass? Er… anyway… yeah… it’s totally worth it especially now that I am re-seeing all the pictures.. it just makes me feel so happy. Yes, at the end of the day.. we have to sit down at the stairs and take out all the flower seeds that got stuck at our jeans and shirts. No kidding… it’s sticking to us like bees to honey. *yawn* It’s time to go back to our cozy room and have a short nap before we go out for dinner. Special dinner I was told.. Yes, I couldn’t wait to wake up and eat. Other Cameron post: |

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 14 August 2006.
We finally decided on a birthday lunch 10 days after Azli’s (more famously known as ikan) birthday.
We walked down and have our ritual birthday lunch buffet.
While it may seems a little late, our motto was better late than never.
All of us were eyeing what each of us ate and who manage to make the buffet worthwhile.
Ikan claimed that he only had a few oysters only, but we all knew it was a lie .
To add, each of the oysters are really huge.
And guess what, according to our spying, he had at least 7 oysters.
While for me, I kept going in for the sashimi since it was so fresh.
It was so good and kept me wondering what would happen if I were to go to Japan.
Don’t worry, while I love Japanese food, I still love our local foods such as nasi briyani, rendang, nasi lemak and many others.
After the buffet, everyone else ordered their hot after meal coffee except me.
Lack of sleep and coffee is not a good combination, especially when I clearly needed to close my eyes.
And drinking coffee at this point in time will cause my heart to beat faster.
Now, let’s all head back to finish up our work.
Happy Belated Birthday Ikan 🐟!

Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 June 2006. Right after we explore our chalet abit, our stomach start sending noises as a gentle reminder to us that it’s time for lunch. Obviously dim sum has digested, and we are venturing around for food. We drove to the nearest town. Yeah, Brinchang seems to be the location. We stop at the heart of Brinchang and decided to look for food. No one of us have any idea of what to eat. We decided to just walk in to whatever shop that anyone wanted to walk in. So yes, we found Restoran and Rumah Tumpangan Hong Kong. From the pictures shown, this place seriously do serve lots of stuff. From chicken rice to mixed rice to porridge to steamboats to western food. Not to even mention the variety of noodles. Gigi decided to take porridge. The rest of us decided to order some dishes from the mixed rice section and share. We had stir fry ladies fingers, sweet and sour pork and ma poh taufu and a plate of roasted chicken. Food was not really that tasty. Well, probably the wheather is cold which makes the dishes get cold easily. But the taste is just so different. The sweet and sour pork eh… hemm the pork just taste different from what we normally get in KL. I dunno.. it just have a different type of smell. Bet things would be better if the food were really really hot! Yeap yeap, brian and gigi.. haha, as usual they will have their small dramas and pinching session. Yeah, you would know how bad things goes if you remember the first winter warmer’s post. As usual, none of us would wanna get involved or being bothered. Haha.. yeah.. it’s sort of like a daily dose for them thingy.
Potted flowers looked as pretty as it always is. Cactus has never been so manly the last time I saw them. Yeah… just so manly eh? Strawberries weren’t as big and red before they were plucked. Not as much as I expect to see. Yeah… I expect to see loads and loads, mountains and mountains of strawberries. But yeah… I am a little disappointed. Maybe I went to the wrong place. Sigh… yes… I need to stop being disappointed! I need tea! Other Cameron post: |
