The walk begins..
There are just way too many shops and malls around.
I don’t even know where to begin.
On the street itself.. there were so many interesting shop.
One that caught our attention was a famous local bakery, Kee Wah Bakery (奇è¯é¤…家).
I actually knew about this bakery mainly through HK movies which features Eric Tsang as he is the spokesperson for the bakery.
Yup.. any movies that actually stars him, would feature Kee Wah
The rest of the street didn’t change that much from I last recall.
The street are still as colourful and vibrant as I remembered it to be
With a lot of funky and cool shops.
But nevertheless, there are a lot of construction happening.
Revamping, renovations.. upgrades..
Some may find it weird, but I can’t help but to take picture with the bamboo scaffolding and the “red blue white†cover.
Haha… this is just so iconic about Hong Kong.
Yes, seriously.. this is what I grew up remembering about Hong Kong anyway!
Yup.. where Jackie Chan jumps around and do their stunts. Haha..
But to be honest, some things that I am still getting used to..
Would be adapting to looking at nostalgic small stalls surrounded by tall high-rise building
Which in some ways does add flavours to the city.
Some flavours that not many will still appreciate
But look what I found.. the most memorable and iconic place, Times Square (æ™‚ä»£å»£å ´).
Time to shop!!

Mmm.. I’m hungry! I want food!
I’ve been saving all my stomach spaces to try out the local Hong Kong cuisines.
And the moment we saw Hong Kong style restaurants.. we immediately gone crazy!
Right.. Tai Hing Restaurant (太興飲食集團) somehow manages to stood out among the others.
For me, it’s clear that their logo are of my favourite colour.
And to add.. the amount of nicely roasted ducks, goose and chicken are enough to lure me
To add, they have big fat juicy chunks of roast and BBQ pork at the background
And that does it for me.
Ah… yes.. such a beautiful sight isn’t it?
I know… I am kinda shallow. I tend to die in the hands of good looking food.
I can hear them all calling my name~
Can you?
Bet you can’t believe that I gave them a pass over processed meat 😀
Now, this is one of the sets from the Breakfast Set G (HKD29)
Which includes vermicelli noodles soup with preserved cabbage and shredded pork noodles + toast with scrambled eggs
Ooo… which I find the combination quite funny.
Yes, quite fusion in my opinion. Asian style noodles with western style toast.
But hmm… who cares, so long as it tasted good.
Me and my cuz.. yes, of course great mind thinks alike.
And with our undying love for luncheon meat…
We both decided on Breakfast Set E (HKD29)
Which includes luncheon meat and scrambled eggs instant noodles.
Oh yes, can see her happy and contented look right? Now who wouldn’t!
I’m seriously have no clue what luncheon meat they use.
But I can for sure tell it tasted so damn good.
Even better than those type we found in Malaysia.
With the chunk of meats and it’s rough meaty texture *saliva drips*
Yes, the luncheon meat in Hong Kong is something to die for.
And I ate like there’s no tomorrow! *fat, fat*
To me, and probably my cute cousin..
Hong Kong is the land of french toast. Probably land of luncheon meat too.
But right.. the deep fried bread… done to perfection.
Look how golden brown it was 🙂
So yes, we ordered the french toast with butter (HKD20)
With a dash of butter right in the middle.
Oh.. and did I mention, I love how my cuz professionally poured the maple syrup.
Pretty isn’t it?
Well.. it tasted good, crispy on the outside.. soft inside
But I was somewhat disappointed. Yup… sadden by the fact that there wasn’t any peanut butter in the center.
I’m sorry but yes… peanut butter make hell lots of difference.
Yes.. you know.. the moment you cut it.. the melted peanut butter oozing out.
And you get the mixture of sweetness from the maple syrup, saltiness from the peanut butter, the aroma and smoothness from the melted butter.
Ooo.. it just blends in so well.
Although I was a little disappointed with the French Toast.. the iced yin yong (iced milk coffee mixed with tea), or I should say chilled yin yong (HKD3 to upgrade drinks from breakfast set) manages to brighten up my day.
The first time milk tea served to me in this manner, which I pretty much like.
You get a chilled drink, without the ice diluting the milk tea.
And yes.. this might not be the best milk tea in Hong Kong.
But beyond comparison to the ones in Malaysia.
But then again, me being me… I need my super kau-kau coffee. Hence I opted for iced coffee at the same cost.
Ah… *rub tummy*
Let’s start to plan where to shop! Haha..

My first Hong Kong cityscape view.
Causeway Bay didn’t change as much as I thought it would be.
It is still as busy as it ever.
I love the busy streets vibe, the mixture of old and new buildings and of course the shopping craze!
This place is like a maze all together. A concrete maze indeed.
It is jam packed with building and we can hardly find our hotel with the GPS signals being blocked by buildings.
After a long walk and walking in rounds and circles and even asking around, we finally found the hotel.
Apparently even Hong Kongers can’t tell the directions from the GPS and map which makes me feel less bad.
It’s not just me. And I guess we can only rely on our Chipsmore GPS – the “now you have, now you don’t” GPS signal.
*tada* We are finally here at Mini Hotel (迷你酒店)!
Address:
Mini Hotel – Causeway Bay (銅鑼灣迷你酒店)
8 Sun Wui Road,
Causeway Bay,
Hong Kong
Telephone Number:
(852) 3979 1199
Website: http://www.minihotel.hk/
Directions:
1) From MTR Causeway Bay Station Exit F, turn right on Jardine’s Crescent.
2) Turn left until you reach Hysan Place and walk along Yun Ping Road.
3) After you pass by The Lee Garden One, turn right and walk along Hysan Avenue.
4) Turn left until you reach Sun Wui Road.
5) Go straight. Mini Hotel Causeway Bay is on your left. (Would strongly suggest you to take a taxi, should you travel with big luggage and kids)
Wow .. I totally love the style of the hotel.
It has this modern artistic feel yet it still gives a nice and comfortable ambient to it.
I love how they boldly mix and match different style of arts, photos, decoration pieces and furniture together but they all fit in together so well.
This will be our chill out place for the next few days.
Love.. love.. love!
Did I mention, they offer Free Wi-Fi connection *double triple love
What better way to kill time, waiting for check-in registration.
Photo taking of course
And for those who refuses, be afraid.
Be very afraid. LOL
I am very impressed with our room.
It was way bigger than my expectation since the last trip, our room was so small and cramped.
To begin with, I thought my bed would be a single bed. Didn’t know we are getting a queen size bed for each of us.
Yeay! *roll roll roll*
*jump jump jump*
Ok, let’s get into business! Go get ready and all set to hit the streets!
Luck is on our side. We have this classic Hong Kong style restaurant located just a few shops away.
And look at the classic delivery bicycle parked right in front.
I thought it only appears on TV. Seems it’s real!
But nothing beats the happiness in me when I noticed that BAPE shop is just around the corner!
Yes, less than 5 mins walk!
Go BAPE go!
Thank god I’m not a Cath Kidston fans, else I will definitely go crazy and broke on day 1 itself.
But nothing can compare to the iconic Hong Kong mini bus!
Yes, now I can feel the Hong Konger in me dying to jump out.
Wow.. I am travelling again with my great cousin to Hong Kong & Macau.
*blink blink* 6 years! It has been a while indeed.
I love to travel with my cousin, cause we have good mutual understanding and interest.
Mostly Nicole “smart” Tan will do all the planning and booking.
While I was unfortunately tasked as this trip’s translator.
I’m seriously too excited so much so that I am sneezing the whole night before.
So I basically slept during the flight except waking up to my Nasi Lemak breakfast and taking a random sky view photo which I’m quite proud of!
The in-flight experience this time was really different my previous visit.
I don’t quite like the experience as the air stewardess from AirAsia was not in their normal red jacket and skirt uniform.
Instead it looked like a casual Friday attire where they served us wearing button red shirt and jeans.
I’m sorry, I know I am shallow but I somewhat feel they were much friendlier too in uniforms.
Maybe it is the service and not the attire, but all in all it was just not pleasant.
But what makes me feel more disappointed was they do not carry cup noodles.
How can they not?
In this era, how could they still provide such bad and lack of attentive service?
Their signature Nasi Lemak was also a disappointment as they didn’t manage to keep up with their standard.
I was served a box warm Nasi Lemak, but the anchovies and peanuts were soggy.
What happened to the separately packed and served anchovies and peanuts to ensure they are still crispy?
Budget cut? Or oops, we accidentally did it. Sigh!
I’m dead tired and just wanted to sleep so badly.
The weather also didn’t help especially a drastic change from the blue blue sky ⛅ to a foggy grey sky when we arrive.
At least the same and familiar “Welcome to Hong Kong” tune is comforting enough.
Yeay, we’ve finally arrived at Hong Kong International Airport.
To explore the beautiful airport, visit HKIA Official Website: http://www.hongkongairport.com/
We were so excited, but the wait time for the luggage is a total killer.
I think my luggage came out almost the last and it is the only thing that came between me and my first Hong Kong meal.
Come on, let go go go
We then hop on to the Airport Express Link which would take us from The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to the Central District.
We need to reach and feel Hong Kong the fastest possible way, and this is by far the fastest way possible.
*Nod nod* The interval time were less than 15 mins.
And the best part – it’s fast and we reached Central in less than half an hour. Nice!
Check out the Airport Express train schedules here.
It’s been a while since we last came – 2007 to be exact.
Doesn’t feel like nothing has changed – the ever busy MRT stations, the crowds and the fast life.
The only difference, were my travel partners. This time around with my cousin in laws.
Anyway, thank god we didn’t arrive during peak hours else we will be like sardines for sure.
Haha.. Causeway Bay here we come!
And one of the most scary memories about taking MRTs in Hong Kong is the amount of exits.
I don’t think I can ever adapt to looking at the many exits.
While I agree it is really convenient and great, it is also scary especially for someone like me who have difficulty in directions and decision making.
Somehow these signs just manage to add another layer of complexity to my life.
To the left or to the right?
Think mandy think!
