Coffee, Tea Or Ka Fei Tiam

Ka Fei Tiam

It is one of those “Digital Mall” weekend trip as Deon wanted to look for a new phone.
But of course before that hectic and brain-draining chore, we need to fuel up our brain cells and charge up our energy at the kopitiam situated right at the entrance of the mall.

We were welcomed by Ka Fei Tiam’s clean and bright environment. The decorations are pretty in tune with the modern style kopitiam – marble tables and chairs, dark wood shelves.
And their menu are quite standard and they do serve dishes that you see in most kopitiam.
Yes, by typical I mean local Malaysian favourites like nasi lemak, curry laksa, toast bread, steam bread, more bread options and of course not forgetting soft boiled eggs.

Unlike most of the other kopitiam, the waiters will sit you down at your table and pass you the menu for you to view it. Once you are ready to order, you will need to go to the counter to make your order and pay before food is served.

I ordered  a glass of Cham Ais (RM3.20) and their signature Steamed Roti Ka Fei Tiam (RM2.20).
The bread that they use are a little different from the normal kopitiam.
Their default version are using brown bread instead of the typical white bread.
I’m glad it’s just brown bread and not wheat bread, cause I never like its texture despite it being a healthier option.
So glad the bread is soft and fluffy, and of course buttery.

Deon actually ordered Nasi Lemak (RM7.90) and Cham Ais too.
To my surprise, their nasi lemak taste better than Kluang Station’s nasi lemak.
I especially like the chicken rendang and it’s not too spicy.
Not that I don’t like spicy food, just I felt it was just right and a good blend together with the sambal.
Not over-killing the spicy sensory taste buds 🔥.

Talk is CHEAP!

Talk is CHEAP!

There are so many people in this world who just loves to talk. Their job is just talk and talk and talk. Their words bring you to LA LA Land… bring you go on a roller coaster… round the world. Yes… blah blah blah.

Nevertheless, I guess it never occour to them, talk is cheap. You can just say a million things while others will have to just work their ass off. Best of all.. people will just sit there and wonder why others seems so busy. Sigh…

VVin something

VVin something~

Recently I have been browsing thru some magazines and while brainstorming for some ideas. I saw this few ads being published… the Disney and Campari ads. Both using fairy tale story as their theme. Hemm… some was brilliantly done, some in my opinion just manage to breeze through.

Okay… I’m gonna give a small gift to the first one who successfully give me the correct answer to the pictures below. Please put your answer in the correct order and include a valid email address so I could contact you.

For the first half, please list out what fairy tale these ads were inspired from.

Please lead out the artist name and the character that they potray.

The third addition to the Suzumiya Haruhi’s capsule toy collection. Yeay… I got Mikuru Asahina taking of her skirt half way… showing of her striking red undies. *drool*

Yeap, apparently there are two versions of this figure. One more proper… where you can do the peeking and the one I have… hahaha… simply a show off. I need one more to really complete the set… but I am currently doubting my luck to get the final one… mmm… what should I do?

Pit stop at Kluang Station

Pit stop at Kluang Station

Decided to lunch at Kluang Station as I need to drop by the post office at Ikano Power Centre.
I have actually pass by this place a couple of times before, hence I decided to give it a try this time round.

Pit stop at Kluang Station

Deon ordered the Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken (RM8.30). I was quite surprised that the portion is quite big (in my opinion). And it was served with lots of sambal, anchovies and roasted peanuts. To add on top, half a  hard boiled egg and a whole fried chicken leg.  I didn’t quite enjoy the nasi lemak as I don’t fancy sambal that is overly sweet.

Pit stop at Kluang Station

As for me, I ordered Beef Rendang with Salted Egg (RM8.80) as soon as I was tempted by the word “salted egg” on the menu. I felt that they used the same sambal for the rendang and the nasi lemak. The only saving grace for this dish is really the salted egg. It manages to balance the sweetness of the dish and if it wasn’t for the salted egg, I will never order this dish ever again.

Pit stop at Kluang Station

We both ordered their Iced Cham (RM2.80). It was pretty average, nothing really exciting.

Demon Barber vs. Cute Alien

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)

Movie Title: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (7/10)
Year: 2007
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street official site: http://www.sweeneytoddmovie.com/

A show that very much reminded me of Edward Scissorhands. I totally love the colours… the black and white feel, the gothic like mood… and best of all the singing part. It’s really cool to see how they actually transform a broadway musical show to a movie. It’s a nice movie with nice look and feel and everything, not to mention it is topped with one of the best actors in town. But the movie was somehow too draggy and got a little too boring in the middle. The script were a little weird and somehow a little lost. But I like the ending and the twist. It is a great show… but definately not the best of Johnny Depp.

CJ7 (2008)

Movie Title: 長江七號 (CJ7)
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/10)
Year: 2008
CJ7 official site: http://www.sonypictures.net/movies/cj7/

What can I say… too high of an expectation and overly promoted. Or maybe I always think most Stephen Chow show should be funny. I have no idea… but I think this movie is too surface. It didn’t go in depth in terms of character development, emotional development and it’s script. Too movie wasted too much time on how the little boy imagine CJ7 would be. It’s suppose to be a touching movie but it fails to nailed it cause the ending was rather rushed. It failed to be a super hilarious show… sigh… I can’t really tell… but I can seriously say for the second time, Chow disappointed me .

Amazing Thai Day02: Part 04 – Sausage Delight

Day02 – 21st June 2007

Dinner time is around the corner. Me and Nicole manage to take a short rest in the hotel after an touristy adventure. We brought some snacks from 7-11 before heading back to the hotel. Munch on them… take a quick shower and decided to head down to Suan Lum Night Bazaar for some shopping and hawker food.

The Suan Lum Night Bazaar is one of the biggest and most crowded night market in Bangkok. We were quite shocked to know that Suan Lum is still open. Rumours has it that the night market was closed down. I guessed they just decided to wait for us to visit it first.

Suan Lum Night Bazaar is indeed quite a big place with loads of different small stalls. Me and Nicole was almost blinded by the amount of stalls and things to buy. For the first half an hour, we just walk pass many shops without even knowing where we should begin with.

I finally understand why we can’t think straight and bought anything. Why? Cause I am walking around on an empty stomach. Me and Nicole agree that we should go search for food. We should search for stalls that sells sausages.

Why sausages you asked? Cause… stalls near our hotel sells sausages and it has been tempting us for quite sometime. The funny part… we walk around but we practically can’t find any stalls that sells sausages. Of course we were quite disappointed. Thinking it was a big night bazaar, they would sell loads of different type of food.

When we found the first and only stall that sells meatballs we quickly ordered a stick to try. It isn’t exactly what we had in mind to try but the well… since there isn’t much options… why not try it.

Judging on it’s first look, it surely doesn’t look appetizing. The porkballs actually like they are not cooked. The first bite definately proves us wrong. It tasted so good. It’s really worth the 15 Baht.

Amazing Thai Trip
Amazing Thai Trip
Amazing Thai Trip
Amazing Thai Trip

We actually sorta give up in searching for sausages and decided to just stop at the foodcourt and order whatever food that we like and eat. Yup, foodcourt is always the best place since one can really choose from the lots.

There were so many stalls there… and so we walk and look around to see if anything interest us. Me and nicole were discussing how we should order more variety of food which is less filling. We walk and point around and keep in view of what interest us… when suddenly, we found this stretch of stalls that sells sausages, meatballs and many other snacks.

At the first stall, we ordered the Pork Changmai Sausage (15 Baht) and Garlic Pork Sausage (15 Baht). They both tasted extremely good but I prefer the Pork Changmai Sausage to the Garlick Pork Sausage. The Pork Changmai Sausage have this strong lemongrass and tom yam flavour. Spicy and a little sourish… wooo… definately one of the best sausages I have ever tried.

We then hop on to another shop to order some Grilled Chicken (50 Baht). I actually have no intention of ordering it… but the aroma just drives me nuts and I just gotta have it. It’s really lovely. The meat is so juicy and tender. It tasted very much like chicken char siew. Slurp…

We then decided to order some different variety of sausages and meatballs from another stall. The meatballs and sausages (30 Baht) didn’t really taste that good. In fact… I think it is kinda bad. From it’s outlook, it looks exactly like the sausages that you can get from the supermarket but the taste wise is really bad. There isn’t much texture to it. The sausages is practically too soft and have no meat taste to it. Same goes for the meatball as well. Definately the worst stuff we have eaten in the day.

Then me and Nicole split up to make our final selection. She went and ordered Crab and Pork Meatball (40 Baht) and Shrimp Roll (50 Baht). I way prefer the shrimp roll to the crab and pork meatballs. I think the crab and the pork don’t kinda mix well and tasted a little odd.

As for me, I went and order fresh fruit juice. I ordered Mango Juice (60 Baht) and Pineapple Juice (60 Baht). In my opinion it’s seriously a good deal. They seriously blend a whole mango to get that rich and thick Mango Juice. Wooo…. the juice tasted so rich.

There were groups performing and singing… keeping everyone in the foodcourt entertained while we have our dinner. Right after dinner, we continue our walking session.

Believe it or not… we didn’t buy anything. There are loads of things to buy… but I keep telling myself, wait and see… wait and see… we can always come back to this place and buy it later on. Which of course is true… it ended up many of the price was jacked up.

I originally intended to buy some local designer artwork… which I think is god’s fate. I failed to purchase it because the artist left the shop to somewhere and not come back even after 10 minutes. And so, I decided to just leave the place. How sad eh?
