Eat With MeSnack Attack!

Meiji Macadamia Chocolate

Meiji: Macadamia Chocolate

Taste Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (7/10)
Packaging Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (7/10)
Price: RM7.90
Website: http://macadamia-choco.jp

Chocolates 🍫,  in my opinion doesn’t need not be expensive in order to taste good.
Often times, I find cheaper or more affordable chocolate taste much better than the expensive ones 💸.
I know it sounds weird, but it is true.

I think the Meiji brand needs no introduction as they have always been known for producing tasty snacks with good packaging design.
While I love the Hawaiian Host Milk Chocolate Covered Macadamia Nuts, I think it is slightly costly to buy and eat them all- the time. Hence, Meiji Macadamia Chocolates is my next best options for my weekly snacks.

Designed similar to a pack of Marlboro cigarette box 🚬, both leverage on the red and white theme and also played with the diamond arrow shape pointing downwards.
The minimalist design is simply functional yet pleasing to the eyes.
All you need to know as in what does the box 🎁 contains and how many units of it are literally on the box – 12 pieces chocolate covered macadamia snacks (9 on the top cover, while they slot in the other 3 at the side of the box).
And I love how it provides a one liner introduction to the main ingredient – Macadamia.
It reads Macadamia, called “King of nuts”, is the most valuable in the world.

Taste wise, while it may not be the smoothest and silkiest milk chocolate 🍫 I have tasted before, I think it still taste decent for its price. But the big and crunchy macadamia nut in the middle manage to add an extra kick to the whole experience.
Meiji just manage to find that perfect balance between the amount of chocolate per piece and the macadamia nut size.
That crunch just makes you feel like a bursting nutty flavour were released in your mouth and that crunchy texture with the chocolate melting in the mouth. Wow ✨! Just unbelievable.

The chocolate sizes were also in a dangerous ⚡ size – bite size!
It’s so dangerous as one won’t even realize they are eating one, eating another one, and another and another.
And before we knew it, it’s all gone.
But what is even more dangerous? It’s not as sweet as the other chocolate bar I had.
Probably due to the balanced ratio of chocolate and nuts that made me focus all my attention to the crunchiness of the macadamia nut rather than picking up on the sweetness of the chocolate.

Love it, and definitely recommend it to macadamia and chocolate lovers!

Heaven

Ayumi Hamasaki - HEAVEN

Sharing more Ayumi Hamasaki songs, and recently my playlist is filled with her songs.
Not too sure why, but I recently dig out a lot of her old albums and kept listening to her songs.

This is one of my favourite titled “Heaven”. But I much prefer the piano version 🎹 in comparison the original version.
The piano version gives a more sorrowful tune which somehow sticks to the mind more.
While I may not understand the song completely but the emotion and tune is just moving and makes me want to go find her even if we were both lost. Am sure someday we will all meet, here in heaven 👼.

Hoxe’s Bookstore And Café: The Best Of Both World

When you can read while dining

It was a long long time ago since I last picked up a book and read, and I mean READ.
Like I say many times before, I am a visual person not a word person.
I love to look at pictures and visuals in books, while books with no pictures literally bore me to sleep .
Yet, here I am, at Hoxe’s Bookstore and Café.

Reason why am I here? Food of course.
Many of my colleagues have given a good review on their chicken rice and grilled chicken.
And since it is only 50 steps away from my office, why not?

Hoxe’s Café has a simple and spacious layout which is great for big groups to come do group reading and study.
If you love to read, there are many shelf filled with various kind of books.
But if you love to eat, then this is the perfect place for you too.
The food they serve is good and priced reasonably.

Their Wild Mushroom Soup (RM5.70)  is really creamy and thick.
If you wonder if their mushroom soup are Campbell mushroom soup like, then the answer is no.
Their mushroom soup have a rough texture as they actually blend the mushrooms finely and mix it in the soup.
The soup is really creamy, rich with mushroom taste and filling.

My colleague ordered Spaghetti Carbonara (RM13.80).
Their generous amount of ham and mushroom in the creamy sauce is just .
Topped with lightly toasted garlic bread. Wow.. just perfect.

I took my colleague’s recommendation, the Hoxe’s Grilled Chicken (RM15.60).
I am glad I took my colleague’s advice and never regret a single bit.
When it was served, it looked like a burger topped with creamy mushroom sauce.
And when I cut open the chicken, I noticed it was layered with potatoes at the bottom, in the middle was tomato slices and baby bak choy and topped with their famous grilled chicken breast.
I honestly think the dish is really delicious, except I still find it weird to find baby bak choy being served together with a western dish.

As for the Cafe Latte (RM5.00), it was a tad mild and could be better.
But overall, it was a lovely lunch and now I felt like sleeping in the office .

Origami vs. Sushi

Origami vs. Sushi

It’s the sisterly shopping day and the only thing that comes between us and shopping is lunch and dinner.
And after a whole day shopping in Berjaya Times Square, me, my sis and Jason decided to stop for food.
We have been shopping the whole day in search for the perfect dress for my sister’s registration day.

I didn’t get the dress that I wanted but ended up buying lots of other stuff.
So, I decided to put a stop to it by going for dinner.
That’s right. More time spent on eating means less time spent on shopping.

Origami vs. Sushi
Origami vs. Sushi

We all agreed and decided on Nippon Tei.
I really love their ambience as everything looks very earth tone and warm.
I love how they really use a lot of wood and rattan in their decorations.

My sis said this is a treat from her, and I won’t reject for sure.
Jason suggested that we order a set each and share, which is a great idea given we love try everything and anything.

We ordered the Teppan Beef Set 🐮 which in my opinion is totally lovely.
It’s cooked to perfection, not too raw and not overly cooked. Just perfect!
The teppan sauce also compliments the meat so well.

We also ordered the Sushi Set 🍣 that will delight our raw seafood cravings.
From sushi to sashimi, and fried ebi and grilled unagi. Oh my god!
The presentation for this was nice. It is served in a rattan basket.
But I there isn’t too much surprise to the dish. It’s just okay!

We also ordered a tempura like set what is filled with lots of fried stuff from tempura to fried oysters and fish .
We’ve got it covered, everything from raw to cooked food.

Overall, I would say the food is okay but the food is served too slow.
I don’t understand why since there isn’t that many people in the shop

Note:
That origami bird is folded by Jason and placed on my sister’s cup. Such a sweet and lovely couple right 💑?

Jason goes western

Jason goes western!
Jason goes western!

Haha… it’s really nice to know that you can wake up to food. Yup, ready made food and the best part is… it’s home cook food. Yeah, my sister invited me over to her place for dinner. So yeah, I practically sleep my weekend away and wake up good enough for dinner.

Yeah… everyone have some contribution to it. My sister apparently made the mashed potatoes. I know I shouldn’t complain… but I think it would be better if it is not that dry.

As for me… my job is just to be a lazy pig. All I was required to do is buy some lemang and rendang while on the way to their home. Haha…

My “brother-in-law”, Jason is the chef of the day. He cooked lamb chop with sauteed mushroom. No kidding… it even comes with this nicely done salad. The food tasted so good… I didn’t have space to chow down any of the lemang. Yeah, Jason is a good cook and I must say, my pictures didn’t do his cooking justice.

I couldn’t really care to take more pics coz I am seriously hungry. This is after all my first meal of the day.

Our Song

Wang LeeHom - Our Song

It has been some time since I last listen to a song repeatedly.
Was recently listening to this song from Wang Leehom – 我們的歌 (Our Song) 🎵.
I suppose most people would have listened to it, since all the Chinese radio stations are promoting it.

I like the cheerful beat, and the innocent and lovely smiles in the MV.
Tho I find the MV is quite cheesy, it fits the cute element perfectly.

And to my dear cuz,
If you think they overly promote CYMA in the “Brothers” movie, wait till you see this song’s MV, I find them promoting the Sony Ericsson phone is an overkill 😂.

Happy Birthday, BOSS!

Weee… this pile of pictures were hidden somewhere in my pc. While cleaning up and organizing my files, I manage to appear and it was one of those cute moments.

Yeah, I couldn’t help but to remember how busy we were that day… but still could make our way to karaoke. Haha… yuppie. Boss birthday ma!

Happy Birthday, Boss!
Happy Birthday, Boss!
Happy Birthday, Boss!
Happy Birthday, Boss!

It was really fun… and I must say, I am completely wow-ed by how most of my colleagues are good singers. Can you imagine… we could finish singing a full version of Eminem – My Name Is song. I must say, it is really a good song to de-stress yourself.

Lots of Justin’s song… loads of 80’s song. Yeah, can’t help it… we all aren’t that young anymore you see 🙂

Anyway… HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDO!!!

Amazing Thai Day02: Part 02 – A Grand Tour

Day02 – 21st June 2007

After a busy day shoo-ing off a large number of tuk tuk drivers, running and dodging con-man/woman… me and Nicole decided that we should go and visit a really cool place, The Grand Palace. I’ve always wanted to visit the Grand Palace. I think it is really a beautiful place and I will have to give up every other place to visit… I would.

Now… the problem is getting in to the Grand Palace. One have no idea how many obstacles we would have to go through. Firstly, someone told us.. it was Buddha’s Day and the place will be closed for the day (all the sweet lies). Then someone told us the locals need to do their prayers and only the locals can enter the Grand Palace. The place will only be opened to visitors after 1.00pm (which is also a total lie). Then someone told us, our dress code is unappropriate and we will never get in. Hence the diversion to other places such as other temples and bargain place.

Amazing Thai Trip

Pissed of with the harrast and not to mention after listening to so many lies, we just can’t help to just walk straight and go try or die thing. At that point of time, I wouldn’t really care if they kicked me out when I reach there. It is really amazing to find out, upon reaching the main entrance, there were so many notice being posted up to beware of the people trying to make offers to go some other temples and places. So yes, seriously… they are aware of this issues and problem happening.

Like many people would have guessed, my sleeveless top.. does not qualify me to enter the Grand Palace directly. Thank god they do rent out cloths for visitors. Yup, they have button shirt (in GREY colour) and sarong like pants to choose from. No worries, all you have to do is just leave a 100baht deposit with them. When you are done with the touring, all you have to do is just pass the receipt back and you will get your full refund back. Simple eh? Yeah, but if you really really want to take pretty pretty pictures, I seriously advice you to wear a nice top and jeans 🙂

I am so excited! I am about to make my princess dream come true. wander around the palace… awww~ Okay, if I am not mistaken, the entrance fee is around 200 – 250baht. Right after paying, one will receive two seperate ticket, one white and one yellow ticket. The white ticket allows visitors to visit The Royal Thai Decorations and Coins Pavilion while the yellow ticket is a one day valid entrance to the Grand Palace.

Since the Royal Thai Decorations and Coins Pavilion is located before the entrance to the Grand Palace, me and Nicole decided to hop in and drool over all the gold, emerald, diamonds, jade and everything expensive. Looking at the amount of gold belts, gold hair accessories, gold trees, cups, necklace… I must say I want to faint. Somebody carry me please. Not to mention, the Emerald Buddha (in 4 season) is located here as well. Of course one of it is currently being displayed at The Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

Amazing Thai Trip

Our grand tour soon begins. It’s like a total different world once we step pass the gate. Everything just blings. The amount of gold is just crazy. There are so many visuals on the wall to welcome us. Right in front of the entrance, we could actually notice the Hor Phra Rajphongsanusorn and Hor Phra Rajkoramanusorn. Awww… it’s really really nice. There are even loads of giagantic yaksha (giant guardian) around the area. Well, surely I must pose and take pictures of the yaksha. It’s after all a very symbolic thing.

Amazing Thai Trip
Amazing Thai Trip

We then continue to snap our way to The Upper Terrace which consist of 4 main monuments. Phra Mondop is a repository for Buddhist sacred scriptures inscribled on palm leaves, contained within a beautiful mother-of-pearl inlaid cabinet. Oh yeah, it really bling to the max. Trust me… it really does hurt your eye when the bright sunlight hit on it. Next to it is the Phra Siratana Chedi, a reliquary in a shape of a golden chedi.

Amazing Thai Trip

One could not miss the Prasat Phra Dhepbidorn (The Royal Patheon). It is a place where the statues of the past sovereigns of the ruling Chakri dynasty are enshrined. I really love the style and how they actually incorporate the golden colour and other colour so nicely. I mean seriously… back then.. when even my grandparents weren’t born. They already have such exquisit taste. Ah… no wonder people would just die to take a glance back then.

Amazing Thai Trip
Amazing Thai Trip

There are many statues of elephants and mythical beings around the terrace. Yes, everything coated with gold… more gold and everywhere you turn to… there are hints of gold. No worries, you eyes are seriously fine :). As for me and Nicole… we pose and pose and pose and snap and snap and snap. By the time I finish walking on the Upper Terrace, my battery is already flashing for help.

Amazing Thai Trip

We then make our way to the main attraction, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The temple is a place one of the most popular places in Thailand where people come and pay their respect to the Buddha. The Emerald Buddha is carved from a block of green jade and is clad with one of the three seasonal costumes (summer, rainy and winter). The one we saw on the temple was the summer costumes. To see other costumes, one can visit the Royal Thai Decorations and Coins Pavilion. The costumes of the Emerald Buddha are changed three times a year in a ceremony presided over by the King.

It is said that the Emerald Buddha was first discovered in 1434 in a stupa in Chiang Rai. The Emerald Buddha is enshrined on a golden traditional Thai-style throne made of gilded-carved wood known as a Busabok in the ordination hall of the royal monastery. The walls of the ordination hall are decorated with paintings depicting events of the Lord Buddha’s life which includes his birth and childhood. There were also several other paintings which portray the enlightment and how the Lord Buddha is preaching his Dharma.

 Amazing Thai Trip

We then walk around and snap loads of pictures. Upon leaving the Temple of the Emerald Buddha we continue to walk on and notices a large strecth of walls with paintings. I must say, the detailing and the story flows is simply amazing. We then reaches this door which linked us to this other part of the place. There is a large sign at the door stating once you decided to go over, one can’t return back to the Upper Terrace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha area.

And since we have done most of the visiting at this area, we decided to move on. We landed ourselves to a more modern area. It is obvious the buildings now have more western influence in them. The first place we landed ourselves is at The Phra Maha Monthian Group which consist of 3 main buildings. The place was really big and we only manage to visit the Amarindra Winitchai Hall and the Hor Phra Dhart Monthian. The Amarindra Winitchai Hall is used for a number of ceremonies such as commemorating the birthday of the King.

Amazing Thai Trip

From the Phra Maha Monthian Group area, there is a door linking us to The Chakri Group which consist of the Chakri Maha Prasat Hall and The Central Throne Hall. The Chakri Maha Prasat Hall is built by King Chulalongkorn and was completed in 1882. As for the Central Throne Hall, it seves as a notable reception of foreign ambassadors on the occasion of presenting their credentials. There is a weapon museum located at this place where it exhibits the type of knife and weapon used back then.

Our walk continues and we stopped at The Dusit Group. A section which consist of the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall, Rajkaranyasapha Hall and the Aphorn Phimok Prasat Pavilion. The Dusit Maha Prasat Hall was built by King Rama I was burned down in 1790 and is replaced by the wooden Amarintharapisek Maha Prasat. The Hall is main function is to held the funerals for the kings, queens and honoured members of the royal family.

After a long walk, me and Nicole decided that we should just grab a drink. Yes, we need a place to sit down, wipe our sweat… have a nice cold drink. Now yes… I of course have to return my cute little GREY shirt… get my refund and continue to hop on to my next destination.

Time and tide wait for no men…

Killer Dinner

My Dinner Galore

Hehe… I have been slacking in my updates again. But I can’t help it. Been pretty tied up attending all the wedding dinners. I mean… seriously, I can’t help but to notice a lot of people tend to get married during year end.

Probably it’s really a good month. For me, I think I attended more than 5 wedding dinner not inclusive of my sister registration lunch. Burp… talk about lots of 4 season platter… lots of shark killed in the process of creating a nice bowl of shark’s fin soup… how many innocent piglet sacrifice it’s life for a nice and yummy roasted piglet. Oh… yeah, it does sounds cruel… but yummy~

Yes, you guessed it right. I sorta gained loads of weight this two months. But well… hehe.. at least I get to dress nicely without having asked.. “You got a date tonight?”, “Meeting someone special tonight?”, “Going to P.A.R.T.Y?”

Steamboat at June’s House

Steamboat at June's House
Steamboat at June's House

A few weeks ago, Jon suddenly text me and invited me and the gang over to June’s place for steamboat. Slurp… slurp… I love steamboat!!!

I mean… what is better than steamboat. Everything and anything in one big pot. Er… then come to think of it, I prefer BBQ more. So yes… it’s been sometime since I saw the both of them. I think the last time I met them was on their registration day.

Yeah… when I reach, nobody was there. I wanted to offer my help, but it seems everything is ready. All I need to do is just quietly sit down and finish the food. While waiting… Jon showed me their registration day pictures. Me and the rest of the gang did help out. We helped Jon and June took some pre-registration day photos.

I must say… some of them looks really really good. How come I ain’t showing it? Er… coz Jon hasn’t pass me the pics 🙂

Well… anyway back to the steamboat. It was totally awesome. One of June’s friend just got back from Cameron Highlands. She brought along loads of fresh and juicy mushrooms… not forgetting fresh vegetables and corn!!!!

As a mushroom lover, I would say I had overload of mushroom and I really am a happy person. Loads of them didn’t join us for dinner. Instead they came over later during the night for a game or two and some chit chat.

I think we should do more of this eating thing! Don’t we?
